Speaking at the event was beyond exciting; it was affirming both as a firm and our value to the tech industry and as a leader in the equity space where AI is a critical conversation. This week we hosted a roundtable discussion with senior business, technology and data leaders on Practical Steps to Drive Al Adoption in Enterprises.   Cognizant has conducted global research with Oxford Economics into AI adoption and we partnered with Ecosystm on a roundtable discussion where the output will feed into our NZ research findings and a whitepaper we are publishing on the topic.   It was a really great discussion, and some key takeouts were:   💡Avoiding the 'Moonshot' Trap. Executives and Board's with overly optimistic views of AI can set unrealistic short-term expectations. It's crucial to assess data, talent, technology, and operating model readiness before committing significant resources.   💡Organisations must emphasise building enabling capabilities, like creating a 'single source of truth' for key data and ensuring teams maintain its integrity for long-term success and alignment.   💡Successful projects embrace collaboration. Building cross-functional teams with technology, business and customers to solve a problem. Today I was honored to attend the GovCIO Media & Research Women Tech Leaders Summit in DC! Not only at a beautiful location (the Salamander doesn’t miss a detail!), the conversations were important, honest and vulnerable. Plus, I got to see my friend Laura Ting! I don’t get the chance to attend many tech conferences, especially those with a focus on women, but I couldn’t miss this one’s panel on AI and, of course, stayed for the rest. Before I jump into that, I want to highlight Maggie Hallbach, SVP, Verizon Public Sector. Maggie spoke on the evolution of tech and that mobility used to be a 💅 luxury but is now a ✅ necessity. This don’t-call-it-a-new-normal has an impact on productivity, work-life balance, and what we expect from tech ➡ it needs to work wherever we are. The AI panel had a handful of takeaways worthy of pondering including: - Get AI to assist you rather than replace you. - Kathleen Featheringham, Maximus - In the same vein, think of AI as a research assistant. - Kristen Honey, HHS - From the FBI, Stephanie Walker spoke on how all AI-amplified processes start and end with humans but also the incredible potential of AI discovering threats to human life, and faster than people can, via the thousands of tips the FBI gets every day. This ⬆ of course made me thinking about how we use AI in buildings at Prescriptive Data. Nantum isn’t replacing people, it’s enabling them to do more and do it better at a faster pace. Lastly, this quote really resonated.... “Don’t think of yourself as an AI or not as an AI person. AI will soon be ubiquitous. Don’t put yourself in a box.” - Kaeli Yuen, MD, VA This reminds me of the quote attributed to Henry Ford, “Whether you think you can, or you think you can't--you're right.” On that note, I’m going to manifest greatness and get creative about how AI can help me get there. 🚀 #womentechleader24

Conference goers can be forgiven if they had the impression that the focus of the 2024 World Economic Forum annual meeting in #Davos, which took place Jan. 15-19, was #AI, everywhere, all the time. There was no escaping the topic, inside or outside of the conference center. (Pictured here is a panel on the intersection of AI and #robotics I moderated). Just about everyone now realizes that AI needs to be on of their agenda, so both #business users and #governments wanted to get a feel during the conference for whether they were already falling behind. Their fear was palatable. PwC’s just released 27th annual Global CEO Survey confirms that executives are turning to generative AI (GenAI) as a critical tool to reinvent their businesses. GenAI can provide “the engine for nearly every growth lever that CEOs want to pull, from optimizing costs to creating new revenue streams to improving the customer experience,” says the report. It notes that U.S. CEOs are already reaping early rewards from #GenAI and that’s fueling expectations that in a few short years there will be deeper, fundamental change across all industries. Yet, a #BCG survey of 1,400+ C-suite executives released earlier this month reveals that while almost all executives now rank AI and GenAI as a top-three tech priority for 2024, 66% of leaders are ambivalent or dissatisfied with their progress on AI and GenAI—and only 6% have begun upskilling in a meaningful way. AI discussions at the meeting focused on how executives can #reskill their workforce and set up their organizations to seize the business opportunities that #GenAI offers and stressed the technology’s potential role in solving some of the world’s biggest challenges but also addressed balancing potential benefits with concerns about #security, #privacy, #safety, #accountability, and #inclusive and #ethical use.
