Jochen Legewie’s Post

This week's edition of Japan's leading business weekly Nikkei Business https://lnkd.in/gjfeGveM discusses the current rise of #unsolicitedbids in Japan and compares the situation to the U.S. The article zooms in on the important role of strategic PR advisors such as Kekst CNC during these complex M&A situations often turning into acquisition battles, helping both the defensive and offensive sides communicate their case effectively. The articles carries a lengthy interview with #KekstCNC's NY-based Co-CEO @JeremyFielding as our NY office occupies an industry-leading position in this area having handled hundreds of contested situations over the last 50 years including the famous battle over RJR Nabisco in the 1980s. During this interview, Jeremy stresses the importance of a persuasive narrative aligned with a long-term vision and strategic direction and the need for companies to regularly engage with investors, media, and stakeholders to articulate their growth strategy, preventing undervaluation and ultimately making them less vulnerable to unsolicited bids. He underlines that Japanese companies must seek to improve the quality of their dialogue and communication with shareholders and stakeholders also on sunny days, in other words on a permanent basis. It is interesting to see that also leading Japanese business media now rapidly focus on the important role of strategic PR advisors for Japanese companies. PR advisors are increasingly seen to be core to effectively position Japanese companies with investors and other stakeholders to prevail in an increasingly competitive environment. Our NY office did not only establish the strategic financial communications industry more than 50 years ago, our Tokyo office also became the pioneer in Japan when we started operations here in Japan in 2004, many years before any other competitor arrived. We look forward in leveraging our global and local accumulated experience and expertise for our clients going forward in and beyond our 20th anniversary year of successful Japan operations.
