We are all feeling refreshed and inspired! ✨ Despite battling extreme tropical weather with flight cancellations and power outages, we stayed resilient and focused on our theme: "Leveling Up: This is HOW we do it.” Highlights of this offsite include sessions led by our leaders William Corbera & Joseph Elias Phillips as well as the rest of the team, including: ✅ Ice breaker exercises, recapping our core company values, and discussions on aligning them with "Leveling Up." ✅ Team updates from operations, sales, marketing, and customer success. ✅ Key business updates and upcoming product releases. ✅ An exciting session on AI applications at Payabli, with new features rolling out in the next two quarters. 💃 And of course, dancing and amazing team dinners at Miami's Sazon and MILA RESTAURANT MIAMI BEACH restaurants. We’re riding the wave of two 4-day weeks, the end of the financial year, and an early Easter. It’s a unique blend of busyness and excitement, and speaking of excitement, we’re still buzzing from the Jangro Ltd Board meeting yesterday. The insights into the year ahead are promising phenomenal growth for the group and its members, truly inspiring stuff! Today, Jade Pienaar and Roger Rees have been showcasing cutting-edge cleaning products and solutions to a new startup. It’s exhilarating to think about the fresh perspectives and innovations they're bringing to the table. Meanwhile, Barry G. and Darren Bartholomew are tirelessly following up on a mountain of leads from a recent Business expo, and our production room upgrade is advancing by leaps and bounds. A huge shoutout to Sam Worden for her invaluable assistance. Sam had guided our Production team, reviewing and updating all processes, and masterminding the upgrade. For someone who likes to keep a tight rein on things, letting go and trusting others was a challenge, Sam has been nothing short of fantastic and the team have really bought in to working with somebody new, Sam has brought a new energy to the team and skill set we simply don’t have. Sam’s expertise and hard work have made a significant impact, and we’re looking forward to collaborating again in the future. And as if that wasn’t enough excitement, new contract notifications are becoming a daily joy! With some significant projects in the pipeline, we’re gearing up for a bustling summer ahead. I know all the team back at The Maintenance Supply Co Ltd will be thrilled. #buildinginpublic has become a participatory sport. As we grow and get deeper into the tech we use, discarding what doesn't work, we hit some roadblocks as we go. Take our website and app, for example. I like it, but it won't scale as quickly with us as our number of locations continues to multiply. This wasn't taken lightly, and the decision was only made with input from their side. So, we are exploring new platforms that can grow with us as we scale. As I enter every conversation, I ensure that the party we talk to is aware and comfortable that we build in public and write about everything that happens as we go. Sometimes, the conversation ends right there; sometimes, it takes time to work through it. In April last year, we hit that roadblock with CloudKitchens, an intensely private company. I wasn't sure we could work through it and started looking for alternatives, but eventually, we reached an agreement that afforded as much transparency as possible. Some revel in being included in the story, like Science On Call: Tech Support for Restaurants, Marqii, ResQ, and Toast, and I appreciate that they let me talk freely about their tech. This week, one of our potential partners withdrew their hat for the website and online ordering app project. I'm not going to lie; getting that email this morning was a disappointment. I was looking forward to working with them. While it may not have been based on the #buildinpublic journey we are on, it certainly was a topic in an early meeting with them. (They did offer to help me pick another platform, though.) But, they recognized that what we are doing may not work with them in the long run, which takes courage to admit. So, back to the tech stack exploration. If you're interested in throwing your name into the mix AND you support the build-in-public mission that we are on, shoot me a message, and let's see what you have to offer. It must integrate with Toast as smoothly as possible, add new locations rapidly, and grow with our requirements, including a direct integration into dlivrd so that we can tap into the 10,000+ drivers on their platform for both our catering and on-demand deliveries.
