Even McDonald's doesn't get it right some days. I received this cup today as I went through the drive thru and it made me laugh. Was this how Friday was going to go today. I chuckled thinking about the leadership conversations that must have taken place to still use the cups. Did the local restaurant call corporate? Did anyone talk to Branding? Is this an isolated issue or did all the cups shipped across the nation have this mistake? I can only assume they didn't have other cups or had they have gone through them already? So, then was the decision point to not serve drinks at all because there were no proper cups or still use the cups because they are still functioning and serve the purpose? Is the brand strong enough to manage through a mistake. What would the consumer choose? For the diet coke aficionados out there like me, you know that McDonalds has the best fountain diet coke hands down. I would take the diet coke in any cup. What would your company do? Would you criticize your local office if they chose to use the "mistake" cups? #mcdonalds

Here's what's on my radar next week in the #BoozeAndBiceps beat. Monday, Feb 12: Wrapping up any ads we see at the Super Bowl in the Alcohol or Fitness business. Molson Coors Beverage Company already pushing its "Chill Train" ad. The company advertising for the second year after Anheuser-Busch ended its decades long exclusive sponsorship of the game. Tuesday, Feb 13: Speaking of Molson Coors Earnings ($TAP). Earnings are out on Tuesday. In the last 4-weeks Nielsen says sales performance for combined beer & core beer slowed. Curious to get a deeper look into outlook for beer performance in 2024, especially since we heard this week from Distilled Spirits Council of the United States that spirits sales outperformed beer for the second year in a row. Also on the radar, The Coca-Cola Company reports earnings on Tuesday. I'll be listening in for any comments on performance of ready-to-drink Jack & Coke product in partnership with Brown-Forman. Hmm🫡. Yes, brands, companies, face challenges, and relevancy can be among them. I think Ms. Masino has been CEO of Cracker Barrel for coming up on a year. Is it not part of the CEO’s job to keep, make their brand(s), and company relevant? Of course, sometimes relevancy can wane, and acknowledging the truth is critical as is doing what is necessary to get it back on-track. But, might not there be a way to communicate its challenge(s) in a more hopeful, optimistic, forward looking, inspiring, confidence building, motivating way, versus publicly throwing it under the bus and facilitating a stock price/company value decline? Words, how they’re spoken, to whom they’re spoken, where they’re spoken, when they’re spoken, matter, especially if one is in a leadership position like CEO. #crackerbarrel
