UK renewable energy update July 2024 – First up – I updated my website, abandoned WordPress in favour of raw HTML, CSS, Python back-end & some JavaScript. Makes integrating apps easier. WP is fantastic, but I wasn’t really leveraging its capabilities & I struggle with some providers user interfaces – but you know where you stand with your own code 😉. New site here: https://www.infrastaq.io/ Onshore Wind: Not much to report… One wind turbine online in 2024! - Checkley Wood Wind Turbine in Leighton Buzzard, Bedfordshire – a Vensys Energy 115 4.1 MW. First Vensys I’ve come across – they are a German OEM, the Chinese manufacturer Goldwind is their parent company. Apart from that, just a bunch of amendments / additions to the DESNZ REPD: * Bryn Blaen Wind Farm, Powys Craiggore windfarm, Co. Derry Burnfoot East Wind Farm (extension), Clackmannanshire Longlands Farm, Rush Wall Lane, Gwent Severn Road, Avon There are however six wind farms from the AR5 Contracts for Difference round currently under construction: Aberarder Wind Farm, Inverness Enoch Hill, New Cumnock Benbrack Wind Farm, Dalmellington Camster II, Caithness Strathy Wood, Sutherland Viking Wind Farm, Shetland There is a good pipeline of others that have appeals and planning permission granted, will be interesting to see if more make it over the line this year. Updated wind dash here: https://lnkd.in/ettGX34E Solar PV: Solar is where the action is - seven developments online this year ranging from 0.25 to 40 MW installed capacity (bit meh), however 137 solar farms (according to the REPD) are in the construction phase. Cheers * DESNZ = Department for Energy Security and Net Zero REPD = Renewable Energy Planning Database #renewableenergy #uk #onshorewind #solarenergy #python #plotly #dash #data #analytics
