Exciting news from the Princeton Chemistry Department reporting the use of light to produce non-canonical amino acids! Non-canonical amino acids are essential molecules in the pharmaceutical and agricultural industries. A recently published paper from the Hyster lab describes a new method to synthesize molecules of this class by pairing a threonine aldolase with pyridinium salts and a photoredox catalyst Rose Bengal. A new method to produce non-canonical amino acids is an exciting breakthrough with implications for pharma and agricultural chemistry R&D! https://lnkd.in/eksKCtrz
