It’s been a rough year… Those were some of the last words spoken by a loved one who passed earlier this month. She worked all of her life as a caretaker and was getting close to retirement, only to be stricken by a terminal disease that took her life in less than 2 months. Then not long after that, I found out that an old colleague who aspired to create video reviews after watching my work also passed away suddenly after battling a terminal illness for less than 2 months. He was in his mid 30s and leaves behind 3 kids, one of them born this October. It’s a sobering reminder that work shouldn’t be your life. As 2023 comes to a close, I want to share what I learned this year: ⚖️Find that balance. Take the time off if and when you need it. 🤲Work with people who want you to excel, who want to see you succeed. Know the difference between a manager and a leader. 🔎Anxiety: know the signs and don’t let it linger. ❗️Don’t be afraid to ask for help. When the workload is too much, stop what you’re doing, focus on the priorities, and don’t stress. It can wait. 🗣️Lean on co workers for advice. They can give you some valuable insights. 🎗️Have a support group that can get you through rough patches. 🔭Explore new passions. Start a new hobby or something that makes you happy or puts you at ease.

This is a sobering reminder of why we set and should keep those New Year's resolutions. I love your list, John.

Appreciate you sharing and my condolences to you. It is a sobering moment - and there are stats to make this even more sobering .... 97% of people die with regret. We chase happiness when we should be chasing a life we love and one we love living. I would add to the list - Live the life you want, not the one you should. - Live in the moment and savor the joy and the good. - Bring the humanity to your work

Thank you for the reminder!
