I very rarely post on here but I had the urge to share some of my thoughts with you all, whether you want to read them or not that’s up to you. 🙏 Today, I want to speak to you about an important aspect of our lives that often gets overlooked in the hustle and bustle of our work: The importance of staying grounded and not letting our work life overrun our personal lives. We are all human, with our own sets of emotions, challenges, and needs. It's crucial that we remember to appreciate the hard work that everyone around us is putting in, as a little appreciation can go a long way. In our fast-paced world, it's easy to get caught up in the demands of our jobs and lose sight of the fact that we are dealing with real people, not just resources or numbers on a spreadsheet. No one truly knows what's going on in someone else's personal life, and it's important to show kindness and respect to all those we interact with. A simple gesture of appreciation or a kind word can make a world of difference to someone who may be struggling with personal challenges. We must also be mindful of the stress and pressure that our words and actions can cause in others. The weight of our expectations and demands can be overwhelming for our colleagues, and it's important to be realistic in what we ask of them. Taking the time to reflect on what is truly important and not overworking our employees is essential for maintaining a healthy work environment. Let us remember that at the core of every organisation are people, people with families, dreams, struggles and a background story. Let us treat each other with empathy, understanding, and respect. Let us create a culture of appreciation and support, where everyone feels valued and heard. So, I urge you all to take a moment to appreciate the hard work of those around you, to show kindness and respect in your interactions, and to be mindful of the impact of your words and actions on others. Let us strive to create a work environments where people can thrive, both professionally and personally. Thank you for your attention. Today Owen and I got up at 5:30 am, got on our e-bikes and rode for 20 minutes through beautiful trails to get to a pickleball court before it gets too hot here where we live. We joyfully played for 30 minutes even though neither of us knows how to play the game. When we got back home, I hit the gym, and Owen finds me on the Peloton with a bundle of flowers!!! Today I am so grateful and thankful for Owen. What I LOVE is that ever since we started dating over 8 years go, we’ve never stopped giving each other gifts or doing small things showing appreciation. Quick Study: According to research from UCLA and Stanford, experiential gifts can strengthen relationships more than material gifts, even if the gift giver and recipient don't consume the gift together. This is because experiential gifts can evoke stronger emotions and feelings of gratitude in recipients, such as adrenaline from go-karting or relaxation from a massage. However, it's important to consider the recipient when choosing an experience gift to make sure it's appropriate and something they'll enjoy. I hope this inspires you to do something (even if it’s small) for one of your loved ones. Even if it’s holding a hug for a couple of extra seconds. It certainly inspired me 💘 Owen Cook

I do not know if you desire to loop from container to container. That is what I did for so long. And it did not click. I felt unhappy. Unfulfilled. Confused. LinkedIn kindly reminded me of my ten-year anniversary at Kreab Worldwide. It’s been quite a ride and the bags under my eyes are clearly more pronounced than they once were. Let’s see now… Crisis training and media relations on four continents across everything from digital art to foreign aid, via elevators and sushi; hundreds of media training sessions for government personnel; approximately one Great Library of Alexandria’s worth of advertorials; plus video production, social media campaigns, what have you. Deadlines, deadlines, deadlines, and many late night bentos. You know what it all comes down to? People. You can’t do PR by yourself in front of a PC. A PR agency (or any consultancy for that matter) is an accumulation of brain power. It’s the combined brain power of the team that moves you forward. And the brain power you don’t have access to in-house, you need to tap into by growing your network. Most importantly: Brains need nutrition. They need air, food, water, time, gratitude, respect and empathy. Provide this and you'll go far together. On that note: Thank you, all of you. Some of you I see every day; some of you have been mentors in good times and bad; some of you I met all too briefly. Many of you are in distant parts of the world. You have all been part of the journey thus far, and I look forward to your continued companionship.

Thank you for all the comments and notes on my work anniversary with 22 years under my belt as a facilitator, speaker and advisor. As the grateful dead said "What a long strange trip it has been" . . . but in a good way. I thought I would share a few observations as I reflect on the journey (in no particular order and just a few random thoughts) 1) I think of my business like a business portfolio. Like a good financial portfolio it needs diversity and when one element isn't as strong, turn up the others. 2) I try to keep an eye on what challenges and opportunities my clients are running into and what is happening in business/industry overall. Where are there shifts happening and shifts on the horizon. 3) When someone says they have a problem, I have an opportunity to help. 4) I try to over service my clients, provide value added at no cost. Surprise them. 5) Pick and choose my customers. Not every company/person is a good fit for me and I am not a good fit for every company/person. In the early days, I would take anything, but it cost them and me. 6) Collect and create tools, ideas and concepts. I have a folder of tools and resources I have created or collected that I can access quickly. 7) Although I like to create, a fellow colleague said we are "curators" pulling together unique items that satisfy our clients. 8) It takes 3 years to build a business model. Every time I have ventured into something and thought "I can get that going quickly", it turns out that it takes much longer, usually it's 3 years before I can see it as a viable venture. Ok, enough rambling, just some thoughts to share as gratitude for the kind words everyone shared on this touchstone moment. There are definitely other thoughts, maybe some day I will write them all down. Maybe you have some experiences to share too. . .

I went for an agendaless brunch with high-performing individuals. When we walked in, we had to choose a sticker and answer one of these questions: • What’s one question you have been thinking about lately? • I feel like an artist when.. • A quote I refer often is… You’d expect Type A individuals asking questions of fundraising, scaling and growth. It was surprising that we found people asking more fundamental questions: • How do we stay happy in our everyday lives? • Is our worth defined by our age? • How do you find guidance from a mentor or a coach? It reminds me of Sahil Bloom’s philosophy in the value of creating big rooms. Something intangible happens when you put diverse thinkers in one room. Thank you to all those that wished me for my birthday. I really appreciate all the good wishes. I have to be honest, I lost my mojo a bit over the past few months. Multiple factors contributed, work, mental, emotional, stress etc, just like multiple solutions have contributed to getting me out of it. That is key! If a problem or challenge has been building for a while there is usually more than one contributing factor, and therefore we need to consider multiple solutions. That is why a quick fix (or a MacGuver solution) won’t last. Every factor may need its own solution and it may not work in the time as the others. In my case, booking a new diving trip helped with some aspects, while actually asking people for help was the solution for others. So be open to considering other solutions, it may take more than one magic pill to properly address what ails you.

3 years to this email and the opportunity that changed everything for me! 🪄 7th September 2020, I started working with Ankur Warikoo and became a part of wariCrew :') This opportunity is not just my first biggest design gig, but something that has taught me and still teaches me life. Reflecting back, I'm grateful for everything wariCrew has given me. 1) I learnt to trust. Trust me, trust people, trust processes, and literally everything that is happening to me. 2) The courage to make mistakes and to own upto them. To fail and still show up each time without any excuses. 3) The realization that I can meaningfully tick things off from my bucket list while working, and doing everything that I want. 4) The reflection of "fix me, fix my world". 5) Got introduced to the importance of processes and routines, both at work and in life. 6) The ability to constantly question my beliefs and to resist the obvious. 7) And the most precious one, the mindset to keep discovering and exploring the world, and through that my own self.
