I am strongly against the belief that delegation is a threat to a leader’s influence. Due to this some leaders are not comfortable to relinquish some task to their team members and this might stifle the growth of their team members. Actively practicing delegation has been a huge success factor in my career as a leaders. Trusting your team is a major driving force of every motivated team. Leaders need to be very interested in the growth of their team members to enable them transfer some tasks to them whilst given them the right support to succeed. This also gives the leader the opportunity to focus on other strategic areas, get different perspectives to improve performance or develop his/herself more or even offer more support to his/her team members. This week, take the back seat and adequately equip your team members to own specific tasks and you will be amazed with the results. Happy New Week!

Today marks exactly one year since I landed in Zagreb to take on the Presidency of the Adriatic countries. Each time I assume a new role, I ask myself the same question: 🔆 What kind of leader do I need to transform into? 🔆 While my core values remain intact, I am always seeking new perspectives and ways of thinking that will bring me success in my new role This year has been a trial by fire for my adaptability and resilience. Learning to navigate uncertainty, make decisions (sometimes with limited information), and maintain clarity and calm under pressure have become fundamental skills in my leadership arsenal One of the most vivid memories of this year was the need to make quick decisions about our team structure or face unexpected and unprecedented external challenges. These moments not only tested my analytical ability, but this year, more than ever, I had to listen and connect. They were moments of intense reflection and sometimes doubt, but they also contributed the most to my personal and professional growth. Despite the challenges and mistakes, there have been countless moments of success, thanks to an extraordinary team that has supported me every step of the way. Today, I want to express my deepest gratitude to each member of the Adriatic team, and especially to the leadership teams of Adriatic and SERCE. Why is it so important to me to travel to markets with young professionals? #EmployeeDevelopment #leadership #Sourcing Witt-Gruppe (member of the otto group) In the first half of the year, I had the pleasure of traveling to India with my colleague Larissa Sauer. It was Larissa's first business trip, and I took this opportunity to further develop her skills in various areas. 📖 Knowledge Building One of the central questions we were able to address on-site was: Why can't my supplier meet certain requirements? Why does the agreed strike-off differ from actual production? These and many other questions are best answered directly on-site. Through direct interaction with our suppliers, Larissa was able to gain a deeper understanding of the challenges and processes that occur in production. 🤝 Personal Contacts Beyond video conferences and formal negotiations, such a trip offers the opportunity to build relationships through personal conversations. It is invaluable to meet all parties involved in person and spend time together. Here, as a leader, I can lay the foundation for Larissa to build her own networks, which will be of great benefit to her in her further professional career. 📈 Development Through these experiences, Larissa is optimally prepared for future negotiations. She not only learns the technical aspects but also the interpersonal nuances that often make the difference in negotiation situations. 🌍 Insight into the Culture In my opinion, a deep understanding of another culture can only be achieved by truly dive oneself in it. This valuable experience cannot be happens through a camera or virtual meetings. You have to be on-site, meet the people, and see the working environments in the factories to get a real feel for it. Only in this way can one truly understand and consider the cultural differences. In summary, such trips offer an invaluable opportunity to comprehensively develop young professionals. They gain not only technical knowledge but also intercultural competence and personal contacts, which are of great importance for their future careers.

The synergy between Play and Strategy is truly remarkable. What a funtastic way to kick off the year - integrating "Play & Strategy"! Isn't it incredible? 🌟 I've always found facilitating LEGO Serious Play interventions immensely rewarding, showcasing the noticeable shift in mindset and behaviours of individuals. 🎯 Recently, I had an amazing time facilitating an energetic leadership team from the Asia Pacific Service center of BCD Travel during their 2024 Strategy workshop. While Strategy is undoubtedly a serious business, incorporating Play into it makes it more impactful. The session was facilitated with LEGO Serious Play methodology. 📈 A crucial takeaway for me was witnessing the leadership team's dedication to developing their people to achieve organizational goals. I commend Gregory L. O'Neil, Pradeep Kumar, Dinuka Sumithrarachchi, and Gayan Weerasinghe for their proactive approach to driving people development. ❤️ From this session, a couple of keywords that resonated with me were Empathy and customer experience, which are pivotal for a travel business.
