Building partnerships to drive measurable and equitable improvements in systems supporting people’s health and well-being.

If you have access to Hulu, and have not watched this yet, I highly recommend you do. It honors and elevates the stories of mothers gone too soon, their families, and change-making communities. It shines a light on the history of maternity care and how it evolved over time in the US. It also gives us a beautiful peek into what our maternity care system could look like, if more investments were made into providing risk-appropriate, culturally-responsive, relationship-based care to the 85% of mothers in the U.S. who have low risk pregnancies. Pregnant people in the US can stand to benefit greatly from care delivered by health care providers who value their full humanity, are experts in supporting physiologic birth, center team-based communication and shared decision-making, within coordinated systems that are equipped to safely add layers of specialized care, only when needed, reducing the risk of unintended and harmful iatrogenic effects. #AfterShock #midwifery #birthcenters #Momnibus #doulas #TeamBirth #ItCanBeDifferent #SystemsChange #LetsDoulaThis #Birthequity #healthequity #maternalhealth #infanthealth
