Remember way back in history... B.C. (Before Covid) when you'd love to go to a week-long workshop where you and others traveled to come together and engage on a singular topic? Good ones left you energetic and ready to get back and build upon it. Why aren't we treating the office that way? Remote or hybrid teams should plan to meet in the office for a week, clear any meeting off your schedule that isn't about that goal, disable distractions, focus, and hyper engage with your team. Eat meals (ahem ezCater plug here) together, take time to socialize and connect. Office visits become workshops with a goal of driving and engaging teams that breaks the meeting mayhem and then releases the team again to whereever they do the best individual work until it's time to do it again... and this time... they WANT to go to the office. Don't sell or force the office.. make them want it by creating VALUE and doing what remote... cannot.

Yep, think work and the workplace has been reinvented forever. Or there is no going back to what we knew, There is only reinventing and setting new standards or expectations of the workplace going forward. Switching to a mostly remote ways of working with my new role has been a bit like a roller coaster ride – both good and tough 🎢! On one hand, the flexibility, no daily commute, being at home when my kids are coming from school is priceless . Yet, on the other side, I've found myself missing the coffee line chats a sense of connection 💞. Sure, I've got my fair share of virtual meetings – one-on-ones, team catch-ups, virtual coffees...but there's something about face-to-face interactions that just can't be replicated over a screen. So now I am even more grateful for every opportunity to be in the office with my colleagues or moments of connection on personal level as it happened yesterday when I connected to a Teams call with my college from Germany and once the cameras went on, we both realized at the same time that we are wearing the same color 👚- miles apart, but our matching outfits brought us closer together in that moment. Even though it might seem small, this moment made me realize how important it is to stay connected, especially when we're mostly working online. Going forward, I'll keep focusing on making frequent connections, whether it's online or in person.
