Today marks my two-year anniversary at Khoros. It’s also my daughter’s 17-month "birthday." A coincidence, of course, but a meaningful one. When I started at Khoros as a newly pregnant, first-time mom-to-be, I was both excited and terrified. Excited because the job and the baby were both miracles in their own right. Terrified because this collision of miracles would mean going on leave as a new employee. What if I fell behind? By “behind,” I meant missing out on the usual signs of success. Promotions. Pay raises. Professional development opportunities. All of which are important. I still value them. But now, nearly a year and a half into parenthood, I have a more balanced view of success. Success can be building a slide deck that sells… or watching my toddler go down the slide at the park. It can be crushing that early AM customer call…or enjoying a lazy breakfast with my family. It can be taking on a special project…or taking time off for a midweek zoo visit. Success doesn't define us. We each define our own success. I am so incredibly grateful to be part of a team that supports me as I pursue mine. So, happy anniversary, Khoros! Happy 17 months, Cara!
