In week three of job hunting as a talent acquisition leader, here are the top five lessons I've learned so far: 👀
🌟 𝐄𝐦𝐛𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐔𝐧𝐞𝐱𝐩𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐞𝐝: Losing my role as a Talent Acquisition Manager after bereavement leave was tough, but it has taught me to embrace the unexpected and use this time to reset and find a role that aligns with my passion for talent acquisition and relationship building.
🌟 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐏𝐨𝐰𝐞𝐫 𝐨𝐟 𝐍𝐞𝐭𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠: I've realized the immense value of my professional network, as reaching out to former colleagues, mentors, and new connections has provided incredible support—never underestimate the power of a LinkedIn message or coffee chat.
🌟 𝐒𝐭𝐚𝐲 𝐏𝐨𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞: Job hunting can be daunting, but maintaining a positive attitude and staying proactive is key. I’ve been selective with my applications, targeting companies that align with my values and expertise. Each day, I set small, achievable goals to keep myself motivated and moving forward.
🌟 𝐕𝐚𝐥𝐮𝐞 𝐏𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐓𝐢𝐦𝐞: This unexpected break has given me precious time with my family, especially my daughter during her summer break. It’s a silver lining that has made this challenging period a bit brighter. Balancing job hunting with self-care and family time is crucial for mental health and overall well-being. Sunshine therapy = huge!
🌟 𝐁𝐞 𝐅𝐥𝐞𝐱𝐢𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐎𝐩𝐞𝐧 𝐭𝐨 𝐍𝐞𝐰 𝐑𝐨𝐥𝐞𝐬: While I have a clear vision of my ideal job, I've learned the importance of being flexible and open to new roles and opportunities. Sometimes, the perfect fit might look different than expected, and being adaptable can lead to exciting and rewarding career paths.
➡ While the job market is unpredictable, I’m optimistic and excited about the next chapter. If you know of any remote opportunities in talent acquisition, especially in managerial or team lead roles, please feel free to reach out or share my resume. Your support means the world to me.
Thank you for being such an incredible community. Yall are my heart! 💪✨
