The Mumbai node of Enterprise Singapore’s Global Innovation Alliance was officially announced yesterday at the inaugural session of Singapore Week of Innovation and Technology (SWITCH) 2023 by Deputy Prime Minister Heng Swee Keat, and Startup Réseau is now a proud addition to a network of GIA nodes in 21 cities across 14 countries. Ajay Ramasubramaniam participated at the GIA Partners’ roundtable helmed by Peter Ong, Chairman, Enterprise Singapore and it only bolstered our visibility to a global network of operators. At Startup Réseau, we see the Mumbai GIA node not only as an entry point for Singaporean companies seeking to access India but, also to enable technology transfer opportunities, joint ventures, industry-academia collaborations and attracting FDI into Singapore. We have been asked --Why do you emphasize teaching business English as a core component of Tachi-Aoi's Mebuki program? Simple, to scale up, especially for women led startups, will in most cases mean customers and financiers in the United States. The report of the JVCA last week that approximately 2 percent of Japanese VC funding goes to women run firms suggests that one of the major road blocks for Japanese women startups is that the VC community is still, to a large extent, caught in the old and outworn paradigm of "only men can run firms." If that is the case, this presents significant opportunities for American and other foreign funders to look at companies that, as Kathy Matsui's firm, MPower Partners, has pointed out has demonstrated a 20% premium on ROI post IPO compared to firms run by men. However, the Japanese are not stupid, and these returns will, ultimately, as they did in the US, lead to a change in attitudes -- but until then, we will tell our Fellows: "follow the money."--Learn English.

However, Europe has experienced the largest reduction in funding. 📊🚀After a record-breaking year in 2021, funding for startups has stabilized in 2023, indicating a shift from excessive hype to a more sustainable funding landscape. 🌱🔋Sustainable mobility has emerged as the leading segment in terms of total funding, driven by investments in electric vehicle OEMs and the battery ecosystem. 📈💻Funding in GenAI application has multiplied by more than 3 in 2023 compared to 2022 with a higher focus on consumer-facing GenAI applications. 𝐇𝐨𝐰 𝐜𝐚𝐧 𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐢𝐬𝐡𝐞𝐝 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐞𝐬 𝐜𝐨𝐥𝐥𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐮𝐩𝐬? Research conducted by the World Economic Forum (2014) showed that successful innovations predominantly occur within so-called innovation clusters (such as Silicon Valley). In these startup ecosystems, all the necessary elements come together to make an idea successful: Founders, investors, talents, customers, universities, specialized agencies, consultancies, law firms, and established yet innovative companies. Despite this, the Corporate Innovation Report published by hy – the Axel Springer Consulting Group last year showed that the potential for collaboration between incumbents and startups has not yet been fully exploited. With 43%, nearly half of the surveyed companies indicated plans for increased cooperation with startups. The question then arises: How can and will this collaboration look like? The three main pillars of a startup ecosystem are 𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐚𝐬, 𝐜𝐚𝐩𝐢𝐭𝐚𝐥, and 𝐦𝐚𝐫𝐤𝐞𝐭. In all these areas, established companies can successfully collaborate with startups. They can provide capital and invest in startups (𝐂𝐨𝐫𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐕𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞 𝐂𝐚𝐩𝐢𝐭𝐚𝐥), nurture their own ideas and found startups (𝐂𝐨𝐫𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐕𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞 𝐁𝐮𝐢𝐥𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠), or help startups validate and improve their products as early customers through 𝐕𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞 𝐂𝐥𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 projects. It seems that due to its low risk and fast ramp up venture clienting is becoming very popular these days although it’s something that has been around for years. More experienced companies move to creating their CVC, in combination with venture clienting an effective tool combination to achieve strategic impact. Anyways I don’t believe CVCs should pursue and can be successful in a financial play if your sole investor is a double digit bn EUR P&L. Venture Building stands out as the boss level in innovation, it’s heavy though in terms of capital and human capital and you need experienced people to adapt the process and methodology, then the questions arise on cap tables, hiring , compensation and IP spin off, a fascinating game imho. In summary, also given the macroeconomics and to answer your question Simon Walter, venture client we will see more, CVC remain steady and a few but bold venture building activities is what we will see in the tactical future 🎤
