On July 10, 2024, the VDW (German Machine Tool Builders' Association) held the "Innovations in Production Technology – German Machine Tools Symposium" in Kuala Lumpur. This event aimed to strengthen German manufacturers' presence in emerging markets like Malaysia, highlighting the country's potential as a key sales market in the ASEAN region. Malaysia is set to become a crucial hub for German production technology, with the government focusing on enhancing domestic value and creating high-quality jobs. At the symposium, eight leading German tech companies, including DMG MORI, Chiron, Grob, Hermle, Index, Open Mind Technologies, SCHÜTTE, and United Grinding Group, engaged with 110 Malaysian trade visitors. They showcased their products and services and participated in 48 B2B meetings, exploring opportunities in aerospace, electronics, electrical engineering, and medical technology sectors. In our Applied Sterilization Technologies (AST) business segment, six sites across the EMEA and APAC regions participated in our first-ever Kaizen Challenge, bringing various opportunities for improvement related to serving our Customers, improving safety, delivering time and cost savings, reducing waste, enhancing sustainability, and more. One way STERIS brings our Continuous Improvement culture to life is through kaizens – a Japanese term meaning “a change for the better.” These events focus on the methodical and gradual improvement of operations while involving everyone. It’s a collective effort to find and implement the most efficient and sustainable improvements. “The Challenge” encouraged our AST sites to plan and execute a kaizen to deliver a change for the better to deliver more value for our Customers. Chonburi, Thailand: The winning Kaizen! Quality for our Customers was the focus here. The Chonburi team developed a new process to ensure containers used for processing are maintained and cleaned efficiently. Implementation of the new process has reduced downtime and helped ensure Customers receive product in the same condition as when it was received at the facility. 💡 Recognizing special achievements is important, especially in times like these. After all, there is no question that saving money is a top priority these days. But at Evonik we also want to recognize the extraordinary ideas and achievements of our employees. It was therefore a great pleasure for me to attend this year's Supply Chain Excellence Award and Production & Technology Excellence Award ceremonies. 🏆 This was the ninth time the PTE Award has been presented. The Gold Award, two Silver Awards and one Best Practice Award were presented to solutions that excel in areas such as increasing productivity and energy efficiency. 🚚 We also recognize similar excellence with the Supply Chain Excellence Award, which we launched last year with the support of Kuehne Logistics University. This year, 19 ideas were submitted. The range of topics could not have been more diverse. We chose four of them to receive an award. 🚀 I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate all the winners.
