2023 has been an eventful year for the Heart Failure Policy Network, and we are so proud of all we have achieved. Our highlight was the launch of the European Heart Failure Mission Statement in October at the European Parliament. An ambitious event, the launch brought together over 50 experts, patient advocates and European Union political representatives to discuss heart failure policy. The Mission Statement outlines six key actions the European Commission should take to improve care and outcomes for people living with heart failure across the Member States of the EU. An advocacy toolkit was also released at the launch. Developed with expert input, it equips heart failure advocates with information on how best to use the Mission Statement’s actions to promote and encourage regional and national change. Our work this year represents only the beginning of ongoing efforts to move heart failure up the policy agenda. We look forward to working closely with our members and Policy Champions to achieve this over 2024 and beyond. McAllister & Quinn is committed to supporting healthcare professionals and recognizes the efforts of the Dr. Lorna Breen Heroes' Foundation and the Dr. Lorna Breen Health Care Provider Protection Act (HR 7153/S 3679), legislation passed in 2022 in the wake of COVID that implements evidence-informed strategies to support the mental health and well-being of front-line healthcare workers. This act has allocated $103 million to 45 organizations to implement evidence-based strategies aimed at reducing and preventing suicide, burnout, mental health conditions, and substance use disorders. The law is set to expire at the end of #2024 if it is not reauthorized by Congress. Reauthorization, pursuant to funding, would extend mental health and wellbeing strategies to more healthcare institutions nationwide and also focus on reducing administrative burden for healthcare workers. We're on the lookout for trailblazers ready to tackle anti-Black racism within our state's health care delivery system. We're thrilled to announce a new Request for Proposals (RFP) for quality improvement projects dedicated to dismantling systemic barriers and enhancing equitable medical care for Black Californians. 🌟 Grant Opportunity: Up to $150,000 for a two-year period. 🎯 Focus: Implementing and assessing impactful strategies in public or private health settings. ⏳ Deadline: January 31, 2024. CHCF encourages smaller grants that assess small tests of change or that lay essential groundwork for assessing equitable care. These efforts are often more likely to be adopted in regular operations. The goal is to fund a mix of smaller and larger efforts that can be integrated into regular operations. This is more than a grant – it's an opportunity to be at the forefront of meaningful change in our communities. So honoured to be presenting at this conference tomorrow representing Collective Punishment Campaign I will be looking at the overlooked intersection of the impact of parental imprisonment and a criminal justice system in which black and minority ethnic communities (BME) are: ❌ overrepresented at almost all stages of the criminal justice process ❌ disproportionately targeted by the police ❌ more likely to be imprisoned ❌receive longer sentences than white people. Looking forward to engaging in conversation which look not only at the problem but exploring ways we can tackle this issue. #parentalimprisonment #criminaljustice #racialjustice
