stacey and I went on a walk yesterday afternoon and we talked about something that I just can’t shake from my mind... If you grew up in a loving home, you can’t know what it feels like to feel unloved. If you haven’t lost anyone close to you, you can’t know what it feels like to have lost someone you’ve deeply loved. If you grew up in privilege, you can’t know what it feels like to long for financial freedom. If you’re skinny, you can’t know what it feels like to constantly struggle with your weight. If you started your business with funds, you can’t know what it feels like to be desperate for funding. If you’re a white man, you can’t know what it feels like to be a black woman, or a woman in general. If you've never filed bankruptcy, you can't know what it feels like to make that first call to a bankruptcy attorney. If you've got a loving partner, you can't know what it feels like to long for someone like that. If you have a service business, you can’t know what it feels like to try to take a product to market. So, let’s not try to pretend we understand people who are different than us. And let's not write them off as ignorant, or desperate, or annoying, or whatever. Here’s what we can do instead… Listen. Love. Be aware of and respect differences. Practice patience. Have grace. Be an ally. Give of your resources. Enter in. What a world this would be if we all did these things even just a little more, huh? #practicelove #peoplematter #enterin #inthistogether

Great post, I’ve thought about a few of these before and it’s nice to see someone write them. I would say, though, that some “skinny” people DO struggle terribly with their weight. Gorgeous photo of the both of you 🤩

Contrast does provide the opportunity perspective, depth, empathy, growth & love...depending on what you choose to see.
