It is so important for students to see themselves represented in influential leadership positions at school, showing them what's possible for their own lives and careers. However, while the number of school-aged Black and Latino children has increased significantly, Black and Latino men make up only 13% of school principals in the U.S. To help ensure students see themselves reflected in the educators and leaders around them, NFBLME: The National Fellowship for Black and Latino Male Educators is working to close this gap. Through its unique programming, the organization helps Black and Latino men become principals and leaders throughout the education sector. https://lnkd.in/eeH-Jmwg

Mentorship is Critical….
Through out this week I’m highlighting 10 BIG MOMENTS THAT MATTERED FOR MENTORSHIP this year! Here is MOMENT #2: Big Brothers Big Sisters of America Advocates for Mentorship on Capitol Hill This past February, we convened 100+ BBBS local leaders on Capitol Hill to advocate for policy and legislative support of mentoring for kids across the country. We made the case that mentorship is an essential part of a national agenda for young people, and a societal solution that bridges political divides across DC and our country. Positive mentorship is a solution that connects us all. As we recognize and celebrate our 120th anniversary next year, join us to affirm that we are truly Bigger Together! #mentorship #capitolhill #leadership
