Count how many times you've heard these lines. 😅 • We don't need all of this, just one effect. • We don't need such an expensive solution, can you just add one thing? • We don't need a lighting team, our office has plenty of natural light. • We can get music free on YouTube, why hire someone just for that? • There's no need for a VFX expert, it's only one scene of smoke. Feels like deja vu, right? Lots of companies might underestimate the value of others' work just because they're on a tight budget. But it doesn't have to go down like that. When you're open about your budget, it's not about vendors taking advantage. It's about giving them the chance to plan the project properly with the right tools, resources, and time. There are always ways to find a cheaper option. You just have to be honest. Let's respect each other's expertise and value what each team brings to the table. Collaboration and mutual understanding lead to better outcomes for everyone involved. 🙌

Dear Recruiters of the VFX Industry, I feel the industry is starting to reprise their working rhythm amist the turmoil going on in various regions affecting production, studios and mostly artists. So I’m going to use this channel and the privilege of having so many amazing followers to vehicle the transition for those new jobs we are going to see coming, without privileging anyone in particular and without any interest that to see this industry of art I love to return to grow and prosper, because there was and still is so much to improve from what it was, but we cannot talk about future when artists are struggling to pay their bills. I offer you, recruiters, my profile to help you populate your studios with the best artists, that many of them need urgently work. I could endorse those I have experience working with but nonetheless I would like everyone to have their chances. Same for people needing to relocate to London or a people willing to help others, feel free to reach out. I was gifted once with the help of many people that I still haven’t met. It’s time for me to give back some love to my colleagues, specially those in need. We’ll make it, together. Recruiters, you can DM me so I can repost your job ads. For the rest, I hope this gesture inspires others to share some help. Remember we all walk on the shoulders of giants, be the giant for others so we can all grow. #vfx #recruitment

As part of my job, I often have to review portfolios from various artists. Many times, I see technically impressive work, but the portfolios themselves consist of relatively simple pieces. I talked to some of these artists and asked why this is the case - don’t they have anything more complex to show? Here’s what I found out. It turns out these talented individuals have been working at studios for years, with good skills, ambitions, and a desire to grow. However, for various reasons, they haven’t been given the opportunity to work on complex shots that they can later showcase in their reels. Here’s my advice: Don’t wait for that kind of work to come to you, because you might be waiting a very long time. If you feel capable and experienced enough to do something bigger, more complex, and more interesting, then just do it. Become your own supervisor, client, producer, and director. Create shots for yourself and make them. Shots where you’re not limited by anything, shots where you can pour in all your skills and expertise. Yes, you won’t get paid for this (since you are the client, after all ;-)), but this will come back to you tenfold or even a hundredfold after a studio hires you, having seen your true skills and what you’re actually capable of. Just think about it!

Recruitment Consultant at YourPrime - Helping Supply Chain software Industry Leaders recruit, build and develop thriving technical/commercial teams
The Wish version of Luke 'The Nuke' Littler🎯 Since Luke Littler has skyrocketed to fame following his success over Christmas, the darts bug has hit the YourPrime office. However, no one in the office is quite up to scratch (resulting in a lot of holes in the wall already). I have been referred to as the Wish version of Luke Littler as we are both from Warrington and have poor hairlines. I was trying to think how I could make this post relate to recruitment so it wasn't just me showing off the new office darts board. This is what I came up with (100% not AI) Recruitment can often feel like a game of darts – it requires precision, focus, and the ability to hit the bullseye consistently. Just like in darts, where each throw must be carefully calculated and executed to score the highest points, in recruitment, every candidate search and placement needs to be meticulously planned and aligned with the company's needs. Imagine the dartboard as the job market; the bullseye is that perfect candidate. It's not just about throwing darts in the general direction and hoping for the best. It's about understanding the board, the weight of the dart (the role), and the throw (the recruitment strategy). It takes skill to know how much effort to put into each throw to ensure it lands exactly where you want it to. If you are looking for your next opportunity within the Supply Chain space, apply below it might save me some time and allow me to play darts in the office for longer each day. #projectlukelttler https://lnkd.in/eUc5xrW6 #pdc #supplychainsolutions #software #wms #yourprime

The most common thing I hear from prospective clients: "I've heard hiring an EA is life changing, but I don't really know where to start." I now send everyone to one place. Chris Hutchins just put together the most comprehensive guide I've ever seen on how to effectively hire and work with an EA. Bookmark this page for when you're ready to hire. It's got all the details. (link in comments)

I don't know of any Startup Studios that do this, but it's something that I've been considering for years. Investor committees. Kind of like board members but for different aspects of the Studio's operations. For instance, the biggest tasks of the Studio are funding/raising on the port co level and hiring CEO's to take over the port co's. So, you'd have a fundraising committee where a board of peer can help the Studio with resources, ideas, referrals, intros etc. Then you could have an executive hiring committee offering the same type of help for hiring CEO's and putting together boards for each port co. 1. I wonder if big check writers at the Studio Hold Co. level would be interested in being this involved? 2. Does the democratization of Studio Ops like this work or is it a case of too many Chef's in the Kitchen? 3. Why build a committee when the Studio can just hire 1 person for each of these roles? I'm on the fence about this approach, so I'd like to hear what you all think.
