Looking forward to starting this book today. I think it's really important to understand our body, the connection between our mental and physical health, the root causes behind symptoms we display and how we can heal ourselves. It'll be good to read stories from people that have recovered from terminal illnesses to show hope is there and that it is possible, even if doctors disagree. This really examines the mind-body connection, nutrition that plays a role in boosting our immunity and fighting off disease, and outlining how stress and trauma affect our physical health. To anyone who has a chronic illness don't give up and keep trying to find ways to heal.

“It’s too difficult to find time to exercise”. “I’d love to run/swim but my schedule doesn’t allow it.” “Life’s a bit busy to get fit, it’s my number one priority when it’s calmed down”. These are all ways to soothe our own guilt. The real truth is you don’t want it enough. Because people busier than you are doing the work. People busier than you are finding a way to do something. And that’s okay. Being fit isn’t for everyone. And if it’s not for you perhaps ill health, early death, medication and loss of freedom is. Don’t be naive. Getting fit can be ‘difficult’ right now. Alternatively, poor health, heart disease, diabetes etc will be even worse long term. Both routes involve difficulty. Choose the one with an upside. Choose the one that also improves life.

Older people are at significant increased risk of heat-related illnesses, known collectively as hyperthermia, during the summer months. Hyperthermia can include heat stroke, heat edema (swelling in your ankles and feet when you get hot), heat syncope (sudden dizziness after exercising in the heat), heat cramps, and heat exhaustion. If you feel as though you may be experiencing heat exhaustion, rest in a cool place and get plenty of fluids. If you don’t feel better soon, get medical care. Be cautious because heat exhaustion can progress to heat stroke. Heat stroke is a medical emergency in which the body’s temperature rises above 104°F. Be cautious. Know the signs.
