I put out a form for a freelance video editor a few weeks ago. Thousands of people viewed it. 50 filled it. It was a very detailed form. Designed to test for 3 things in this order: Communication Mindset Skills 90% of people had: -> Bad grammar -> Poor oratory skills -> Didn’t bother filling the form out completely -> Couldn’t convey why they wanted to work with me I shortlisted 5 people. Offered them a paid sample. 3 sent it in within the deadline. I hired one and gave detailed feedback to all 3 of them. Takeaway: Effective communication and the ability to sell yourself can’t make up for sloppy work. But bad communication and the wrong mindset can make it hard to get hired even if you have the skills. #freelance #videoediting #hiring
