Wow! What an exciting, inspiring, and fun few days at the Breakthrough Energy Summit 2024! The conversations, collaborations, and innovations showcased have reinforced our collective commitment to accelerating the transition to a clean energy future. While I’ve mostly spent my time in the carbon free energy (#CFE) and carbon dioxide removals (#CDR) spaces, it was fascinating to learn about the advances in agriculture, aviation, and other industries. Other highlights included seeing our CEO, Christoph Schweizer in conversation with Bill Gates on stage as well as our Global Chair, Rich Lesser in conversation with John Podesta at the BCG pre-event. The collaborative efforts to tackle industry-specific challenges and the connections made over the last few days will undoubtedly propel us forward in our journey toward a net-zero future. I will be participating in 2024’s Breakthrough Energy Summit—a pivotal event where visionary minds converge to shape the trajectory of climate solutions.   Before the summit I find myself reflecting on the transformative potential of Carbon Dioxide Removal (CDR) technologies, including things like Direct Air Capture (DAC). CDR technologies are a beacon of hope in our collective pursuit of sustainability. Its scalability, permanence, and verifiability offer a glimpse into a future where we can actively combat climate change with ingenuity and resolve. Yet, amid its promise, CDR continues to face formidable challenges, chief among them being costs and insufficient support. I'm excited to announce the release of our latest report on demand for carbon dioxide removals (CDR). Durable CDR is not just an option but a necessity for achieving global decarbonization goals and reaching net zero. Removing CO2 from the Earth’s atmosphere is one of the biggest technology challenges and opportunities of our time.
