Some interesting thoughts here from our S&P Global Quantitative Investment Management Forum in London in Q4. One of the points made is around the powerful nature of combining data. A recent example of this can be seen on some work we have been doing in Japan. "In the past 20 years, using fundamental data alone has proven to be fruitful for Japanese funds. However, our research reveals that incorporating short interest data into the investment strategy over the last 5 years could have resulted in a remarkable 20% performance gain. A pretty compelling opportunity for Japanese long only and long short funds. Many other interesting insights in the below blog - let me know if you would like to dive further into any of these.

Using data as part of the investment management process is far from new – but why is using data and data science both interesting and important within financial markets? And why is using alternative data so valuable? Read our report to uncover insights from leading investment management practitioners, and how S&P Global's Data, Valuations & Analytics are additive to data-driven investment strategies in 2024. #data #altdata #quantitative #investment
