Long post ahead: I had a thought-provoking discussion with a distinguished industry expert concerning a matter that has long perturbed our profession - the disparity in compensation between Executive Housekeepers and their counterparts in Front Office Management and Food and Beverage Management. The rationale provided by this seasoned professional was enlightening, as he explained that the Front Office and FnB Departments operate as PROFIT CENTERS, whereas the Housekeeping Department is primarily categorized as a COST CENTER. Listening to this explanation, I couldn't help but sense a prevailing issue of inequity within our industry. While widely acknowledged that the Housekeeping Department is the HEARTBEAT of the hotel, it is disheartening to note that those diligently working within the Housekeeping Department have not received the fair and just compensation commensurate with their vital role in ensuring that the guest experience is nothing short of exceptional. It's crucial to underscore that the Housekeeping Team dedicates themselves tirelessly to maintaining the highest standards of quality and service that the hotel upholds. We ensure that each room is impeccably clean and comfortable, creating the foundation upon which the hotel's reputation is built. It is our firm belief that the time has come to address this issue and rectify any discrepancies within the industry's compensation structure, thus fostering a more equitable environment for all roles and departments. By doing so, we can uphold the integrity and fairness that should be the hallmark of our industry.

I get many messages and calls weekly from companies, seeking a top-notch Executive Housekeeper but struggling with budget constraints. Executive Housekeepers are more than just taking care of the Housekeeping Department. They wear multiple hats each day, overseeing various aspects of housekeeping operations. Hiring a skilled professional can elevate your establishment's cleanliness and organization. While we understand budget limitations, investing in a talented Executive Housekeeper will yield long-term benefits. Let's recognize the value they bring and offer competitive compensation that reflects their diverse responsibilities. We are proud of what we do!
