📈 This image of a Dyslexic Thinkers ‘spiky profile’ illustrates our #dyslexic ‘superpower’ and #dyslexic ‘kryptonite’ perfectly. It is a powerful example of why #skills based hiring is SO essential for #DyslexicThinkers. And why it’s SO important for every workplace to learn about #DyslexicThinking, because if they don’t, they’ll miss out on some of the best minds. 📦 You see as dyslexics we don’t do average or standard well. We just don’t fit into traditional boxes. ⬆️ We score very high in some things (often in the top percentile)… ⬇️ and very low in others (often in the bottom percentile). This is known as a 'spiky profile'📈 For example: 😊 71% of dyslexics are great at communicating (verbal reasoning) - but 89% are poor spellers (working memory) 🔎 8 out of 10 dyslexics are above average at lateral thinking (questioning), but 9 in 10 struggle getting thoughts on paper (organisation). 💡 Learn more in our free 60 min course on LinkedIn Learning 🔗 https://lnkd.in/eBecWq8P
“Dyslexic kryptonite” what a genious phrase.
I used to get asked, how come you can do this hard thing with ease, but struggle with this perceived easy thing over here? It was a feeling of inconsistency I could not comprehend, but is explained by this spiky profile.
the only danager is to judge all on this one graph as i dont fit it.
I totally love this visual to remind myself to be more patient when I cannot get my #dyslexic daughter to put her school paperwork into any kind of 'simple' filing system, yet she can happily construct a complicated Lego village complete with working traffic systems and superb town-planning!
Such a powerful visual. Should be on the walls of ALL business & education settings
I have been learning so much about my superpower from these posts but this graph really resonates with me.
I love this diagram, I can totally relate to it.
My girl summarised in one graph. So true.
Kate Griggs thank you so much for all the work and education you provide. As a dyslexic person you have given me a lot of inspiration and confidence in my career.

4moWow - did somebody just read my mind. In all seriousness, when I see (note not read) something like this, I feel such a sense of relief, empowerment and belonging - like someone is saying “I see you”. I have hidden my dyslexia for so many years (pre and post diagnosis 25 years plus ago) that it is a really lonely place and this makes me feel understood in one simple representation.
