Theater Alliance was so pleased to join Booz Allen Hamilton at The Anthem for their Booz Allen Excellence Awards! The talented team of Theater Alliance artists and youth "brought the magic" to the evening of WOW led by Natalie Ade, Kari Merkel, and team.
Arts organizations get asked to perform at these kind of events all the time - and as an artistic leader, we get asked to make those decisions. For me, the question always comes down to #values. Does the organization align with our values of integrity, diversity, and excellence? Does the organization value artists? Does the organization live their values? With #BoozAllenHamilton, the answer was a resounding YES.
Even in the first conversation about the event, we didn't talk about what they needed or how to make all their dreams come true on a tiny budget. Instead, we talked about what they believe in and what we believe in - we talked about the WHY of our organizations. That is what makes a great collaboration and I'm grateful!

Chairman, Chief Executive Officer, and President at Booz Allen Hamilton
I want to take a moment to celebrate the incredible achievements of my colleagues who received nominations and awards at this year's #BoozAllen Excellence Awards. It was an honor to recognize the teams who deliver excellence each day, bringing innovative solutions to the most urgent needs of our clients and our communities. We have the most amazing people, and I am so proud to work with them and empower people to change the world.
Thank you to Rob Silverman and everyone who made this year's event a success. And congratulations to all our winners and nominees!
When it comes to showing recognition for the good work people do, bigger isn't always better.
Sure, accolades and awards can be great.
But have you ever had someone tell you how grateful they are for you?
No spot lights.
No LinkedIn post.
No blasting it on the company email chain.
Just one-on-one,
Telling someone how special they are.
Now that's something people never forget.
You see,
Many managers think showing recognition has to be this big public occasion.
They'll go through all the trouble to show recognition,
But won't take the little step to thank someone privately.
Here's a groundbreaking thought ... do both!
Do the big stuff sure,
But remember it's the private stuff that feels really meaningful.
Some great ways to better show appreciation to your team: https://buff.ly/4bHvMKq.
Uncomfortable is how I would describe myself as it pertains to speaking about myself or my accomplishments. That is why I would like the focus of this post to be about my colleagues and organization as a whole.
During my time at Top Hat, I have always felt appreciated and that my contributions to the organization, my colleagues, and our partners have received more than ample recognition. My accomplishments can be attributed just as much to my team, colleagues, and leaderships as they can to me. Last week, I was surprised and humbled to receive the Top Hat Unsung Hero Award for our Customer Success Team.
Receiving this award speaks to the amazing culture at Top Hat. To recognize someone as an "unsung hero", who feels that they are thoroughly appreciated is a testament to how much Top Hat cares about its people.
Find a company that appreciates its people so much that they recognize someone who already feels highly valued. Find a company where your CEO records the award presentation to send it to you, your VP gets you to climb a fence, and another VP lends you their extra glasses (or other random items you forget). Find somewhere that a friend says such nice things about you that you are embarrassed while your other friends celebrate for you.

But why is important in company culture?
It improves:
-Motivation,
-Productivity, and
-Happiness
Why?
Peer-to-peer recognition creates a culture of appreciation, where everyone feels included and valued for their job.

GreenSquareAccord has announced receiving 254 nominations for their Gold Star Awards, describing this as an impressive 42% increase over last year’s entries. However, this claim seems somewhat underwhelming, especially considering their workforce size and the upcoming expenditure for the awards ceremony.
To put this in perspective, with an employee base ranging between 1,000 and 5,000, the 254 nominations represent only about 5.08% to 25.4% of their total staff. Last year’s nominations, calculated to be around 179, indicate a low participation rate.
Moreover, it is important to note that these nominations are solely from staff members, with no input from customers or residents. This exclusion is disheartening, particularly considering the crucial role that customers and residents play in the organisation’s operations. Their feedback and recognition would provide a more comprehensive and authentic measure of performance and service quality.
When considering the costs associated with organising and hosting an awards ceremony, including logistics, venue, awards, and lost productivity, one must question the efficiency and impact of this exercise. The expenditure seems extravagant and not necessarily reflective of broad recognition across the organisation.
Given these figures and the lack of customer/resident involvement, it's crucial to consider whether the awards genuinely enhance morale and recognition or if they simply serve as a costly tradition with limited reach. In light of these numbers, the resources allocated to the Gold Star Awards might be better invested in more impactful employee and customer engagement initiatives, or better yet spent making the homes of their residents safe, warm and dry.
We’ve received 254 nominations for our Gold Star Awards, an impressive 42% increase on last year.
Our awards are an important opportunity for us to recognise and reward the colleagues and teams who go above and beyond and enable us provide a great service to our customers.
Our final ceremony will take place on Wednesday 3 July 2024. We can’t wait to crown our winners, good luck everyone!
It feels great when an employee is praised for the hardwork and achievements. 78% of Micro and Small business do not follow this practice of printing certification of achievement, a small activity leads to increase in employee motivation, builds employee loyalty, creates competitive environment and much more.
just imagine how a small activity can give you big results.

I saw a recent post from an executive (a former CEO) who had received a couple of different lifetime achievement awards from the industry he spent his career in. The executive said he was honored and rightfully gave credit to the employees of the companies he led.
That’s all well and good but making sure those people are recognized at every opportunity is more important. I know someone who traveled all over the world for several years accomplishing major goals for their company. Their EVP even accepted an award overseas for all that work at a major industry event. Great, right? Well, except for the part where he came back to the office, showed off the award to his staff and said, “Does anyone know what this award was for?”.
Don’t be THAT executive. The one who doesn’t have a clue about major projects your teams are working on and how long and how hard they’ve been working on them. Likewise, don’t be a direct report to that executive who fails to make sure they know what their people are doing and how it’s contributing to the company.
There are things that separate the great bosses — the ones employees all want to work for — from the ones that make people want to work somewhere else. Recognizing the accomplishments of the people who work for you as they’re happening and being openly thankful for the way those accomplishments reflect on you is at or near the top of the list.
Join us in a round of applause 👏

🌟The Power of Recognition - Boosting Morale & Motivation🌟
Recognition in the beauty industry isn't just about winning awards; it's about acknowledging the hard work, dedication, and passion that you and your team pour into your salon every day. One way recognition can make a significant difference is by boosting morale and motivation.
When your efforts are recognised, they instil a sense of pride and motivation. It’s a reminder that the hard work is paying off and that others see and appreciate your dedication.
This acknowledgement can be incredibly motivating, pushing you to continue striving for excellence. It can also foster a positive work environment, as the appreciation shown can boost morale and strengthen the team's spirit, making everyone feel more connected and driven to succeed.🩷
