Additionally, I joined the annual Children’s Walk with so many colleagues including Quita Beeler Highsmith, MBA to highlight children's needs and supporting organizations. Mental Health Awareness Month is always a good time for me to step back and assess whether I need to bring my life back into balance. Am I making time for the moments that matter with family and friends? This year, I’m bringing my life into balance by taking a six-week sabbatical starting July 1. Genentech offers this perk to employees after every six years with the organization, and this will be my third one! I always return from my sabbaticals rested, refreshed, and energized about the work I’m doing on behalf of patients. And I’m always inspired to do something differently or better. We're thrilled to mark another year of success and progress tackling health disparities alongside our valued partner, Genentech. In 2023, nearly 375,000 cancer screenings were completed through community-based screening interventions. Building on these achievements, we're excited to announce that the work continues in 2024. We are focused on piloting health-related social needs screening and referral projects in three key regions: Georgia, Ohio, and Oregon. These programs aim to accelerate community-based interventions with health system partners that directly improve health equity and cancer outcomes.
