Kateyama is pleased to announce the technical partnership established with Pirelli for the 2024 season. The collaboration between Kateyama and Pirelli began in 2023 and allowed us last year to guarantee a high-quality service and assistance in the paddock to the single-seater teams who chose our Professional Track Days. Considering the results achieved with this #collaboration, we are proud to announce the renewal of the agreement for the 2024 season and the extension of the presence of Pirelli also in Professional Track Days dedicated to GT, Touring and Prototypes, as well as in test days open to Formula cars (as in 2023). As part of this collaboration, a Pirelli tire service station will be set-up in the paddock during most of our Professional Track Days taking place in the main European racetracks. Pirelli will take care of the transport, assembly, and disassembly of tires, assisting teams and thus facilitating their activities. With the renewal of this agreement, we also renew our environmental efforts to make our activities more #sustainable. Pirelli is committed to recovering used tires for future recycling, a project we deeply care for, which reduces the environmental impact in our test days. FORMULA E, THE ANTITHESIS OF EXCLUSIVITY Jeff Dodds, the CEO, of Formula E, was recently the keynote speaker at Bournemouth University's KTP Practitioners Conference He proved himself well able to discuss in detail the past, present and future as well as the continuing relevance of Formula E. He described the Formula's ten years of existence and how this had "unleashed the power of electric" whilst harnessing the enthusiasm of governments as they try to reduce the 15% of worldwide global emissions blamed on road transport. Jeff argued that Formula E has the "best drivers in the world" as they help major motor manufacturers "develop the best powertrains [motors] for the future." He used Monaco as a comparison as both Formula E and Formula 1 race there. In the Formula E race there were two hundred overtakes, whilst amongst the top ten Formula 1 cars in the Grand Prix there were none. He emphasised the point that, "audiences fall away quickly without overtaking." Jeff wants Formula E to continue to be the "antithesis of exclusivity," believing that " better innovation comes out of keeping the costs down." He illustrated how Formula E is "developing at an incredible pace" with acceleration time from 0-60 mph now as low as 1.7s. Also, battery performance now sees car's batteries lasting for more than 50 minutes flat out. Remember originally Formula E batteries lasted only half a race and two cars were then needed per driver per race. One of the Formula's biggest audiences is now in China where there are one hundred million followers, with 192 broadcast sponsors distributing the sport. There are a number of major motor manufacturers wanting to join up, but the number of teams who who can take part is limited by the FIA. It seemed obvious, though, that if a certain Italian manufacturer famous for it's red road and race cars wanted to join, space could be found for them. The collaboration between #Pirelli and #Porsche has produced four high-performance tyres for the iconic 911 model: the P Zero Trofeo RS and P Zero Corsa for the Porsche 911 GT3 RS, as well as the P Zero Trofeo R and P Zero Corsa for the 911 GT3. These new tyres are specifically engineered to provide safe and enjoyable driving experiences both on the road and on the track.
