A community is a group of people who share common interests, values, goals, or geographic location. Members of a community often engage with one another through various forms of communication and interaction, forming connections and building relationships. Communities can be physical, such as neighborhoods and towns, or virtual, such as online forums and social media groups. The sense of belonging and mutual support within a community can foster collaboration, shared experiences, and collective growth. How do you engage? • Identify relevant events • Plan your participation • Promote your involvement • Engage actively at the event • Follow up after the event I hope this helps 👌🏼🔥

Fellow community builders, if you've been struggling to get your members to engage - let them know that you're community is theirs too. Actions speak louder than words here. Especially while leading a membership community, I see it so often that founders build all of the discussion threads and events around what they want/need. And they almost always have good intentions but in doing this they forget an essential part of what it means to lead a community: paying attention to what your members are asking for. If they want more spaces to connect, let them create their own spaces within your platform. If they want to host events for the community, let them. IMHO, being a good leader means you let others lead too. And you give them the tools to do so.

How to engage and provide value to your community? This is a very common question among our customers and people who are willing to build a community. Well here are a couple of ways to provide value… 👉 Creating valuable content 👉 Launching discussions 👉Hosting events 👉Creating a space and opportunities for networking However, to keep your community growing and active, you must evolve your content to match your community's needs and give them reasons to stay. If you're feeling stuck, reach out to your community for feedback. If you have a community built inside Networked, you can use tools such as polls and surveys to gather input. Your community will appreciate being heard, and implementing their feedback shows them their voices matter as you shape the community to meet their goals.

Marvelous session on community engagement today with Leslie Greenwood and Rachel Rozen that prompted my thinking: How do the communities you're a part of keep you engaged? - Is it the burden of the community lead, urging participation and stimulating conversation? - Is there a culture of community-led participation? - Are there 1:1 connections that happen within the group organically (or with some technology boost)? Because, frankly, a lot of my communities have lost their "oomph" and when I look at those that succeed it's usually down to 3 factors: 📣 There are interesting updates/value that I want to come back for. This is *usually* posted by group members, not the admin. 🤝 It's a community that I want to meet more people in... a big part of the value for me in communities is the networking. 💃 It matches my style. Even if a community is less active, I don't mind if the people there are welcoming/available without judgement. --- fair warning --- I miiiiiiight just have community on the brain a lot more these days, as that's a group of folks who are *loving* the connection and networking focus of Matcha.so --- announcements coming later this month on that front!
