🎉 Celebrating 2 Years at jemmic! 🎉 On May 2nd, I reached my two-year anniversary with Jemmic, and I wanted to take a moment to reflect on some key lessons and experiences that have shaped my journey: 1. 𝐓𝐫𝐮𝐭𝐡𝐟𝐮𝐥𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐢𝐬 𝐅𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐚𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐥: At jemmic, being open and honest with colleagues and clients isn't just encouraged; it's a way of life. The open-minded culture here allows for genuine conversations where you can speak from the heart and truly be heard. 2. 𝐄𝐦𝐛𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐞 𝐌𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐤𝐞𝐬: Mistakes are part of the process. What matters is how we learn from them and turn them into opportunities for growth and improvement. 3. 𝐁𝐞 𝐚 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐛𝐥𝐞𝐦 𝐒𝐨𝐥𝐯𝐞𝐫: Great developers are also great problem solvers. Understanding the business context behind the code is crucial. It adds value to our work and helps us create more effective solutions. 4. 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐢𝐬 𝐊𝐞𝐲: If you see room for improvement, think about it and suggest a solution. Spot a potential issue? Raise it early so we can address it head-on and avoid surprises. 5. 𝐋𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐧 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐓𝐞𝐚𝐜𝐡: I've learned so much from my colleagues, both in terms of hard skills and soft skills. Their patience and willingness to share knowledge are inspiring. At the same time, they are open to learning from me, despite my junior status. It's a truly collaborative environment. I see many opportunities for growth here at jemmic, and I'm grateful for the chance to work with such a talented and supportive team. This week, I celebrated 5 years at SEP, which feels far too short, in a good way. This may sound self-deprecating, but it was honestly where my head was. I felt like I didn’t fit, but I soon realized how wrong I was. Reflecting on my time here, I realized I’ve learned and grown a ton. I thought I would share a few of these thoughts: • I’ve been able to unload some ‘boulders from my backpack,’ AKA baggage. • Early on, I would speak up in meetings because I had a deep fear of not being valuable, and I felt I needed to prove myself, even though I had nothing worthwhile to add to the conversation. • I tended to say yes to things for similar reasons as point 1 when it really wasn’t an area/activity I should spend time on. • It’s okay to be who I am. I don’t need to conform to what others want me to be. This last point was tricky for me to figure out, and I’m still working through it. • I’ve started to discover who I want to be and what I want to do rather than the expectations of others. Within some rough boundaries, as long as I’m not out selling pretzels (even though they’re tasty, SEP builds software products, so this doesn’t align well), I can show up with my style and strengths. • Even though I’m pretty competitive, I don’t need to compete with those around me. Being a part of the leadership team of SEP is a team sport, so I can look to my teammates to support me and vice versa; we don’t need to see each other as competitors. Now, I’m still working on everything here and more, but I feel thankful that I work at a company that fosters an environment to work toward being the best version of myself. I finally feel like I’m part of a team, working towards a common goal and doing our best to support each other. And while we aren’t perfect by any stretch of the imagination, the challenges, conversations, debates, and ideas are all helping us be better each day. So, a huge thank you to everyone at SEP - and I mean everyone - for making us the best place to do amazing work! Here’s to many more years! Cheers!

September holds a special place in my heart as it marks both my work anniversary and my birth month! Last Sep 01, I celebrated my 9th year at Ayala Property Management Corporation (APMC) and it feels like just yesterday when a good friend encouraged me to embark on this journey. I am incredibly grateful for her support. As I look back, I am filled with gratitude for the growth and opportunities I have experienced at APMC. Here are some lessons and tips I would like to share: 1. Remember that difficult bosses critique your work, and not YOU personally. Try to see things differently. Use encounters with “difficult people” as an opportunity to grow and push yourself further. Don’t let them define you. 2. Don’t wait for your boss to follow up; be the project’s driving force. Make things happen. Management loves seeing progress and results. 3. Resist the temptation to vent out when you are stressed, especially with your coworkers. Remember, your words can be quoted and may have consequences. 4. As you advance in your career and assume leadership positions, apply the positive traits of your previous bosses and drop the negative ones. Strive to be a better boss. Be a better person. Be the boss you wish you had. 5. Listen actively, express yourself clearly, and continue to seek feedback, even from your direct reports. Effective communication is a career superpower. 6. Industries and roles evolve; be open to change and continuous learning. Keep reading articles. Watch videos. Staying relevant is a lifelong journey. 7. Build relationships within and outside your company. Network strategically. Save their contact information and always keep in touch. 8. Take care of your physical and mental well-being to avoid burnout. Disconnect in social media sometimes to CONNECT to yourself. Avoid negative self-talk. Be kinder to yourself. 9. And lastly, excel in your work not to please other people but for the glory of God! Always perform your best. Remember, you are a child of God and you can achieve wonders! So, those are my 9 tips / #lessonlearned for my #9thyrworkanniversary 😅 And of course, before I end, I would like to thank my wonderful APMC Corp Comm and Compliance team for the surprise celebration yesterday! 🎉 I completely forgot about my work anniversary due to back-to-back meetings, but they discovered it in our system and made it a fantastic day with banners, cake, and pizza. A Pinch and a Punch for the First of the Month! 👊🏿 As we start a new month, I want to wish you a happy and prosperous one. May it bring you success, good health, and abundant wealth. Remember that it's okay to start fresh as if the year has just begun. This year, one of my themes is "Ease". I've realized that I don't always have to rush into things. So, I'm taking it slow and embracing my true nature instead of feeling pressured to conform. I'm the tortoise in the race, and as we know, the race doesn't always go to the swift. Last month, I received many congratulatory messages on LinkedIn for my work anniversary. I want to take a moment to thank everyone for their kind words and acknowledgements. It made me realise that I don't often celebrate my small and big wins. I'm always moving on to the next task without reflecting on my achievements. I started working in 2013 and have learned a lot since then. Now, I have the privilege of applying my learnings to my own business. This brings me to my second theme for the year - "Celebration". This year, I'm celebrating my achievements, sharing my thoughts and projects consistently, and embracing the entrepreneurial journey loudly. My third theme is "Courage", one of my business values and a principle I encourage my clients to adopt during their brand discovery journey. So, it's about time I took a sip from my tea cabinet and applied the same principle to my journey. That being said, let me reintroduce you to my budding company, Chasing Bubbles (Pty) Ltd. Celebrating a one-year work anniversary is usually a momentous occasion (unless you regret the decision). While I should have been preparing to celebrate my anniversary of MY AMAZING ROLE, I was also planning my dad’s funeral. As we reminisced about the lessons our father taught us, I started to realize how much he influenced my professional career. While he would present his lessons in unique ways, he always ensured the intent was clear. - Accountability: Own your decisions and actions; especially when they’re wrong. There’s always a lesson to be learned, even in failure, and embracing your mistakes will build character.  - Leadership: True leaders accept the blame and share the credit. Don’t ask anyone to do anything you're not willing to do. Surround yourself with people that will challenge AND teach you. - Critical Thinking: When you make a decision, you’re choosing the outcome, not just the action. If you receive an unexpected outcome, you didn’t spend enough time thinking through your decision.  - Reliability: Your word is your brand and will reach people before they get to know you. Always be consistent and let every interaction be a true reflection of who you truly are.  - Empathy: Think about the worst you on your worst day. Think of that feeling whenever someone doesn’t show you the level of respect you expected. Everyone has real personal challenges and it’s extremely arrogant to think ‘you’ are important enough to cause someone else’s issues. You have something in common with everyone. Find it and you’ll be able to connect with anyone - Intellectual Curiosity: If you’re the smartest man in the room, you’re in the wrong room. “A jack of all trades is a master of none, but oftentimes better than a master of one.“ Learn as much as possible, from as many people as possible. While there really is such a thing as a ‘stupid question’; ASK IT ANYWAY. - Adaptability: The only constant in life is change. The only way to truly be successful is to learn to thrive in it. Be flexible enough to be comfortable in any situation and around anyone. When you’re authentically yourself, you can comfortably navigate between any environment and audience. During my time in thought, I couldn’t help but realize how lucky I am to have the support system that I have. I know the texts, calls, and emails from my Discover Financial Services Audit Leadership & my team encouraging me to take the time needed and absorbing the additional work weren’t required, but definitely appreciated. When I decided to join the inaugural Bryant University football team (almost 25 years ago to the day) I never imagined that I would still be supported by the same guys I shared blood, sweat, and tears with. Even though I didn’t realize that I’d returned to work from bereavement on my 1-year anniversary, It was a pleasant and welcomed surprise during a very difficult period. While it was a relatively somber day, it will forever remain in my memory. Thank you!

This week, in an unexpected turn of events, I was informed my position as the Chief Learning Officer at ChenMed will be eliminated. While I am and will continue wrestling through the full spectrum of emotions that come with losing your job, I'm making a conscious decision to respond with gratitude. And, I'm not talking about a phony veneer of "happiness" regarding the situation. While I'm experiencing many emotions, being happy about it isn't one. However, I've been through enough to recognize gratitude isn't an emotional response to your situation; it's a conscious and often very difficult choice. So, as I begin looking forward to the unknown road ahead, I'm grateful for the almost four-year journey of leading Enterprise Learning and the positive impact we've had on our employees. To every team member, you are some of the most creative and talented learning professionals I've encountered, and nothing would have been possible without each of you. Serving as your leader has been an honor and privilege. I'm grateful for the opportunity to work under one of the best leaders I know, Jim Whitling. Your support, shared values, and strategic focus on outcomes over activity were crucial variables in our many successes over the years. Together, we have influenced some of the most monumental shifts in how talent development is perceived and delivered in my career. I promise, at some point, we'll get that beer in person. I'm grateful for all the incredible relationships I made while here. There are far too many individual names to list, but those of you I've had the privilege to get to know and collaborate with have truly been incredible. It's been some of the most challenging work I've done in my career, and I couldn't have done it without you. All that said, while I'll no longer be contributing, I truly wish the best to every employee at ChenMed. Each and every one of your unique contributions are what makes the company great. Without you, there would be no patient experience, so keep being the talented and passionate group of people you are. I'll share more and update you on the journey as it unfolds. The Seven-Year Itch. 👽 Yesterday, someone asked me how long I've been with Aboitiz. It was only then when I realized that today, Nov 14, is my 7th work anniversary with the Aboitiz Group (Aboitiz Equity Ventures and AboitizPower combined). The same person mentioned the "seven-year itch" and asked if I'm feeling it now. A LinkedIn article describes the "seven-year itch" as a common phenomenon that can impact different areas of a person's life, including relationships and career paths. This phenomenon is usually related to a person's declining level of happiness in a long-term relationship around the seventh year. People who celebrate milestones would usually list down all of their achievements, milestones, and meaningful relationships they've gained. I have a lot of those. I've talked about those many times in my previous posts and offline conversations. Today, I chose to take the time to reflect on the difficulties that I've faced through the years. The difficulties that tested my relationships, values, resilience, and determination. There have been a lot of those as well. The situations were not always easy to deal with, but they are all essential for my growth as a professional, a leader, a private person, a spouse, and a parent. From adapting to industry shifts, to navigating complex deliverables and adjusting to various personalities, each challenge contributed to the kind of person that I am today... and the number of drinks that I drank (kidding!). 😊 Happy 7th work anniversary to me! 🎉 Celebrating Two Years at Gainwell! 🎉 I made my two-year anniversary at Gainwell, and it has been an amazing journey. I feel more aligned in my career than ever. When I transitioned into training, I made a commitment that my crown would no longer be siloed from my career, and since then, my career has been rewarding. Here are the two lessons that have made the biggest difference: #1 - Integrate God within Your Career My career is different now that I proactively partner with God on career decisions (even the way I applied to jobs was different). Every organization has its challenges, so I’m not saying things are perfect. What I am saying is that the alignment between meaningful and fulfilling work, purposeful assignments that impact company culture, and developing relationships with people laterally and horizontally is finally here. The mentors and people who hold me accountable make all the difference. #2 - See People Beyond Their Titles I’ve always been an advocate for being more than your job title. There’s so much more to a person than their job title. When we see people as only what they can do for us, we base the relationship on performative measures. But when we get to know the entirety of a person, we can discover the depths of who they are and may find we have more in common than we think. It's also important to note that while we love the convenience of being at home (I know I do), not everyone has a comforting home environment.
