CONVERSION OF CO2 INTO METHANOL The large-scale production of methanol from CO2 is anticipated by 2030, marking a significant step towards green innovation. This process stands out due to its reversibility, allowing the conversion of CO2 into methanol through a chemical reaction. It's noteworthy that the combustion of methanol produces CO2, completing a sustainable cycle. Despite the promising prospects, a critical challenge arises from the presence of water in methanol, leading to catalyst degradation. This issue has been effectively addressed by implementing internal condensation within the reactor to manage water vapor. This innovative technology facilitates the separation of methanol and water, contributing to enhanced yield, increased efficiency, and preservation of the catalyst.

This is #Physics! It's natural to think that if we place a disposable plastic cup filled with water directly on fire, it will melt. But contrary to expectations, that's not what happens! In the video showcasing this experiment, let me explain this "mystery": Why doesn't a plastic cup filled with water melt in the fire? The fire transfers heat to the plastic in contact with the water. As the plastic absorbs this heat, it transfers it to the water. However, the water doesn't heat up enough to cause the cup to melt. This is due to the specific heat of water — the amount of heat required for a substance to undergo a temperature change — in addition to the temperature needed to melt the cup itself. Consider the following: - Water boils at 212°F (100°C). - The cup starts melting at temperatures above 224,6°F (107°C). - The fire burns at approximately 572°F (300°C). Even though the fire is hot enough to melt the cup, the water remains cool enough to prevent the plastic from melting. Understanding the phenomenon of the cup that does not melt over the fire with water, based on THERMODYNAMIC principles, can have several implications and lessons for the #CORPORATE environment: #riskmanagement - In the corporate environment, it is crucial to identify and manage risks. Just like the cup that does not melt, understanding the limits and properties of materials and processes can help organizations avoid undesirable situations. #strategicplanning - Similar to how the cup resisted heat due to the presence of water, efficient strategic planning involves considering all relevant elements. This includes understanding the characteristics of available resources and how they interact under different conditions. #decisionmaking - The knowledge of thermodynamic principles involved in the cup situation can inspire data-driven decision-making in the corporate environment. Making decisions based on data and understanding the variables involved is essential. #operationalefficiency - Just as the cup did not melt due to efficient heat transfer, organizations can seek operational efficiency by optimizing processes, minimizing losses, and ensuring that resources are used effectively. #innovation & #adaptation - The cup situation illustrates how understanding material properties can lead to innovation and adaptation. In the corporate environment, a deep understanding of processes and resources can stimulate innovation and the ability to adapt to changes. #businessresilience - The cup remained intact due to the resilience of the material in the face of heat. Similarly, organizations need to be resilient to face challenges and crises, adapting and maintaining integrity. #interconnection #teamwork - Just as water and the cup are interconnected in heat transfer, organizations need to understand the interconnections between different areas and processes to ensure cohesive and efficient operation. #leadership #trainning #management #class #laboratory
