Owner at Enigma People Solutions - helping Electronics, Photonics and Semiconductor R&D teams identify and hire the technical leaders that are essential to their success.
Case study - Recruitment of a Project Manager The Shape Sorter... Project Managers come in all shapes and sizes, and this can make finding the right one for your client harder than you might first think. I remember when my daughter was a toddler she would play with a shape sorter, one of those plastic cubes with holes in them, each one different; a star, oblong, triangle, crescent, square etc, etc. She would have to work out where each piece fitted correctly. Some of the pieces would fit in different holes, but her task was to get them into the right holes. We had a brief from a technology design company to recruit a Project Manager who was experienced across a range of projects covering ideally different technologies and end products. Find out how we cracked that challenge: https://bit.ly/42ioTvy

All things digital marketing, data, MarTech and transformation. (Head of Marketing Technology, Head of Digital Marketing, Head of Digital for retail brands, start-ups and agencies.)
I love having the radio on in the morning. And this week I was completely taken by this interview on the Chris Evans breakfast show With Cal Newport on his book 'Slow Productivity: The Lost Art of Accomplishment without Burnout '. His comments really resonated with me after so long running on the treadmill of busy-ness. Here are my take-outs: ✍ The more projects / activities you take on, the more 'project admin' you have to do. Soon, the admin of these projects overtakes the time available to do the actual work you set out to achieve. (I am definitely guilty of taking too much on!) ✍ Talking about work isn't the same as doing actual work. Love this! Unfortunately, it's a real challenge in big companies where reporting / meetings now seem to dominate our workload. ✍ Do fewer things at once and accomplish more (see admin overhead above). Queue work up and tackle things in succession once the previous things are done. We do this well in Tech development but, why is this so hard for day-to-day operations? ✍ Work at a natural pace. Find the pace that you can work at where you really care about your craft / quality. Be proud of what you're producing.

Factory relocations don't have to be a nightmare. Planning is the key to success, not luck. 1. Conduct a thorough assessment of your current facility and determine your needs for the new location. 2. Create a detailed timeline with milestones and deadlines for each phase of the relocation process. 3. Communicate effectively with all stakeholders, including employees, suppliers, and contractors. 4. Develop a contingency plan for unexpected challenges that may arise during the relocation. 5. Hire experienced project managers and consultants to ensure a smooth transition.

Thinking quality is a no brainer on Nova jobsites. Imagine catching an activity or material issue BEFORE it leads to rework. Why is this so important? Because it allows Nova to bid more projects and adjust production rates for more competitive future bids. We're not just building; we're building smarter. No worker wants to perform the same task twice. By catching issues early, we're not just saving time and resources; we're also ensuring the highest quality work for our clients.
