Over the last few months I have had some conversations with amazing humans who have been led to believe a store had clothing with “one size fits all” and “every body can find clothes that fit here” only to find the clothes don’t fit. These humans traveled across state lines to visit these “inclusive” stores to find they were not so inclusive. When shopping for clothes it’s tempting to blame our bodies when the clothes don’t fit. Culture leads us to believe that sizing is fair and inclusive. It’s not. Therefore, shopping can be a mine field and full of difficulty and complexity. We want to blame our bodies, but could we try a different perspective? Could we remember that if an item does not fit, it represents an inadequacy in the clothing, not an inadequacy in us? Could we grieve at the lack of diversity in clothing without turning on our bodies? Your body is not the problem, diet culture is. Ladies, if you are in favor of removing these phrases, you should also state the ideas to which they should be replaced with. How do I differentiate between products designed for young people who have acne or oily skin and those that are designed for mature skin? Criticizing is not enough, solutions must be proposed, and this is, what is missing in this video and your message. I think that the vast majority of women would like to know exactly what product they are buying and what it can do for them. Just my opinion.

Women in their 20’s, 30’s and 40’s need to start understanding (and teaching and living) what real beauty is by being healthy, intelligent, sexy, confident, and genuinely supportive of other women (and genders), not just wrinkle-free and fake-lashed. Men and women find confidence sexy. Anti-ageism is a movement 'for the young' because their mindset and what they buy as well as 'buy into', perpetuates stigmas. International Women's Day - 8 March 2024. A while back I walked into my office on a day like today and was congratulated by one of my (female) colleagues on "our day". I thanked her and commented on having forgotten about "our day". She replied that clearly I didn't have a man in my life who bought me flowers on #internationalwomensday Otherwise I would have remembered. (Cultural and age differences between us aside,) I was offended, shocked and shaken by her comment. I stood speechless at my office door. Today I just want to remind those of you who have read this far that -although flowers can be a beautiful gesture- this day is about achieving #genderequality and women’s well-being in all aspects of life. My personal favourite way to start? Not flowers, but sharing the mental load. And what's the big deal about the mental load? It is a big deal. More like a huge burden at times. Because it's not just about loading the washing machine. It's about #remembering to stock the laundry products when grocery shopping. About #remembering to buy this detergent and not the other because of Lily's allergies. It's about #remembering to hang the clothes when the cycle is over at 10pm so they don't get smelly overnight. It's about #remembering to do the laundry by Tuesday so Timmy's uniform is ready for P.E. on Wednesday. It's about #remembering that this item of clothing needs to be washed in a delicates wash bag and that other one must be washed separately because it will stain. It's about #remembering to run a cycle to descale the washing machine every one to three months. That and much more, before, during and after a full's day work.
