Make an offer or I am out!! Job seekers are exhausted. Worn out. Depressed. Frustrated. Disgusted. Endless interviewing. Endless waiting. Endless ghosting. A client of ours was interviewing with 4 companies simultaneously. Between in person meetings, presentations, Zoom calls and 'just one more interview' before expecting an offer, he put on the brakes. Between the 4 of them, he'd been interviewed 16 times. After learning that 2 of the companies planned additional interviews, he bowed out of both. He went back to the other 2 and said, "make an offer or I am out." He got 2 offers, accepted the one he wanted and is starting his new job next week. At some point you just hit a wall. You NEED people to make a damn decision already. Hiring has never been this long, this difficult or this flaky. I can't fully agree. For those who aren't desperately looking for a job or in a rush, having the chance to slowly go through multiple interviews and understand the corporate culture, team, and internal situation better is an extremely valuable opportunity that shouldn't be underestimated. In fact, I've had several instances where CMO and CEO-level candidates were hesitant to accept an offer after only one interview with the founder. They weren't ready to make a decision for a $35K monthly salary job based on just a 60-minute conversation. However, I do agree that timing is crucial for vacancies targeting unemployed candidates. And for everybody, ghosting without comments disrupts trust significantly, and keeping silent after promising a quick offer is disrespectful. The ideal situation is to inform candidates of all expected stages at the beginning and to avoid long gaps between interviews. ❗ Aim to complete the entire interview and offer process within approximately two weeks.

If you give a company interviewing you more than 1 hour of your time they will take it and you have nothing to complain about. If someone can't make a decision about you as a candidate after speaking with you for an hour you haven't convinced them or they aren't really hiring anyone. Move on. What you allow continues. Candidates need to stop acting like victims. If everyone said no to 5 rounds and a presentation it would stop being the norm.

Core point: Forget multiple interviews; just make a decision already. Multiple rounds of interviews could mean the company is indecisive and always looking for comparison. Jobseekers are sometimes more exhausting than HR and users. Thousands of applications and multiple rounds of interviews. Make a decision fast, and don't wait and ghost. Time would never turn back.

That totally Sucks!! 😤 So here’s what you need to do to ensure you aren’t falling prey to ghost jobs ✅ 1 - Check out with internal sources, and connections in the company if they are at hiring for real. As much as I have been dreading this post for the past 2 days, I think it is important to remain truthful in my job search. 🔎 I recently was in the final round of 4 interviews, very excited to have gotten this far and confident about how it had gone. I did my best to stay optimistic while also being realistic, not getting my hopes up too much. But just a day later I received yet again another dreaded 'thanks but no thanks' email. I was naturally upset and am still left with all the leftover feelings this kind of thing leaves you with. 😞 I've had headhunters and others help me rewrite my resume/cover letters countless times, and I've had job coaches help me by conducting mock interviews with me. I'm not sure what else to do at this point. I'm 120% defeated and doing my best to keep my head above water, but I know I have to keep trying and something will come along soon. 🏃♂️ I have a background in customer experience/sales, training, training material creation, and leadership, and love it when I can bring a bit of myself into my work. This job market is so tough. 1000s of applications, phone calls and interviews. I’ve been applying, networking and interviewing for a job since I was laid off back in July. I’ve had interviews with CEOs, VPs, head of HR, and countless employees. Going through multiple rounds of interviews, and being told it’s between me and one other person. But in the end they go with someone else. It’s a tough market out there. Being told you’re exactly what we’re looking for, you’re over qualified for the job or we went with someone else. It gets to you. I know my time will come when I’m no longer the “bridesmaid” and will be the “bride”. For now I’ll continue to be positive and look for that new opportunity.
