Zotec Partners' 2025 Proposed Medicare Physician Fee Schedule (MPFS) summary is out. Again, important to emphasize that the RVU changes in Table 128 do not include the -2% sequestration cut that came back on in April '22, nor the "PAYGO" -4% cut delay that expires on 12/31/24. So, there's a 60 day comment period on the MPFS until 9/9/24 & there are days left in the Congressional calendar to call on them to stop the sequestration and PAYGO cuts, respectively. https://lnkd.in/eextwPWC

Regs & Eggs from McDermott+Consulting is out! This week, Regs & Eggs discusses what happens next given that a doc fix is not the immediate horizon. Short answer: Providers' Medicare payments will start to be cut by 3.37%! However, although Congress hasn’t acted yet, there are ongoing discussions about a fix at some time later this year. Regs & Eggs also lays out some of the possible options for a doc fix going forward. Medicare has consistently cut reimbursement for more than a decade. These cuts are unsustainable in a market like ours. Even if you don't work with Medicare clients, private payers use this same fee schedule to set their rates. BCBS of Nebraska only pays 75% of the Medicare Physician Fee Schedule, for example. It goes down, so does BCBS reimbursement. These cuts are not sustainable for our profession. Any attempt to innovate in OT is limited by #accesstocare issues like this. Let's hope this advocacy effort goes through, even if it still results in a 1.42% cut 2024 compared to 2023. #advocacy #occupationaltherapy
