TechWomen is a fully sponsored professional exchange program organized by the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs. It empowers women in the technical field from countries in Africa, the Middle East, and Central Asia. The program aims to promote STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) education and careers for women, as well as to create lasting connections and mentorship opportunities. The TechWomen program aims to foster collaboration and opportunity for women in STEM by providing them with mentorship, training, and networking opportunities. It connects emerging women leaders with their professional counterparts in the United States to build lasting relationships and develop skills to advance their careers. The program runs for five weeks and includes a range of activities, such as professional placements at leading technology companies, community service projects, workshops, and networking events. During their time in the U.S., participants have the chance to engage with mentors who provide guidance and support in their respective fields. TechWomen challenges the participants to utilize the knowledge and experiences gained during the program to create positive change in their home countries.
