All infrastructure was destroyed when the Indonesian military and Timorese militia left Timor-Leste in 1999. Schools like the Kulugia Primary School were left without tables and chairs, buildings were damaged and school resources were burned. Any remaining educational resources are often in Portuguese or Indonesian, so teachers and students often have to translate through multiple languages in each education session. You can help. I would like to share not professional news and insights, but something no less important - volunteering library for Ukrainian children in Estonia "Spilno" 🇺🇦🇪🇪 Please, like & share - we would like as many people as possible to learn about our initiative 🙏 🔖"Spilno" is a charitable library created by volunteers who are passionate about books, creativity, and childhood. Our goal is to help children by providing them with not only exciting books in their native language, but also by creating a platform for collaborative creativity. 🔖The word "Spіlno" means "together" in Ukrainian. Together with our volunteers and readers, we work to fill the library shelves, share books, and organize engaging activities for children and adults. 🔖We believe it is important for children from Ukraine living in Estonia to integrate more easily, meet and make friends with their peers, while also maintaining a connection with their native culture. They can find books in Ukrainian and have the opportunity to speak the language not only at home, but also with their friends. 🚀Currently, we are collecting donations for the library space under the campaign #annetamistalgud. Our goal is to raise funds to cover several months' worth of rent, ensuring the library can continue its operations. The monthly rent is 306 euros, plus utilities cost 100 euros. #PeaceBuilderVoices Help Us Bring 25 Pairs of Palestinian & Israeli Speakers to UK Schools! We have seen a huge surge in interest in our work from schools, teachers, young people and communities around the UK over the last 6 months. The painful and heartbreaking stories that continue to emerge, in the wake of the terrible events of October 7th and the devastating war which has followed, mean more and more young people need our help. We have had our busiest ever academic year so far, already surpassing our 9,000 participants target before the end of the Spring Term. But we want to - and need to - do more. We have seen the impact of how this conflict impacts communities in the UK, and that schools struggle to properly equip young people to engage with this vital topic in a safe, meaningful and constructive way. Next academic year, we are planning on increasing the number of tours we run from 17 to 25 in order to meet the demands and needs of the UK school communities, with the aim of reaching at least 12,500 people. But we need your help to make this possible. On April 15th, we launch our annual matched fundraising campaign - this year the theme is #PeaceBuilderVoices. So often, from young people and educators, we are told about the importance of hearing from the voices of people usually not given a platform - those working towards justice & peace, and a brighter future for Israel & Palestine. We are launching a new #fundraisingcampaign. This project will build a cinema space in the Vavylove village, Shevchenkove community, Mykolaiv Oblast in order to support socialization, community building, and non-formal education. That's why such projects are very important to achieve sustainability. Active young people plan to create a cinema space at the village club. Svitlana Kondratieva, the head of the club, says that in the 1970s, the club used to have a movie theater. At that time, watching movies together was popular. When Svitlana told the young people about it, they said that they regretted that they could not gather for movie screenings and discussions today. They got excited about the idea of reviving the village theater. They dream that the first movie they will watch in the renovated cinema space will be a modern Ukrainian film. The young people plan to watch movies and then discuss them and, for example, play board games. Your support is very important to us.
