Community is more than a place or platform, but they’re a heck of a lot easier to talk about than an abstract concept. I used to have similar hang ups about people referring to blog posts as “blogs”, and I’d go out of my way to correct them. These days? Not so much. Referring to a specific website as “the community” gives folks something concrete to anchor on. 【💤 #DreamJournal 】Community Gathering: Sharing Our Origins I dreamt that I attended a public gathering of bloggers and community leaders. The organizers asked everyone to share our original goals and ideals when we first started our blogs or communities. Each person began introducing the significance behind the name of their blog, why they chose a particular image as their avatar, and their initial motivations, principles, and thoughts when they created their blog. I mentioned that I initially just wanted to share photos and didn’t expect to gain such popularity. I expressed my hope to learn more from everyone and to convey my ideas effectively. Interestingly, as each person introduced themselves, an image of a food block representing their blog appeared on the background wall, eliciting exclamations and admiration from the audience. In the end, the organizers encouraged everyone to remember the original purpose and effort we put into creating our communities and to document it. My room, my rules. Every time we're on social media, we feel like adapting ourselves to their own rules. How careful are you when writing and publishing your content? Do you feel intimidated by the feeling that someone might not like it? And not only because of  the privacy policy, but because of the community culture. We never know how people will react. We spend countless hours writing, wondering if anyone will actually read it. And Once we start gaining our first followers, it becomes a massive effort to keep them engaged. Who is ready for some numbers of what it takes behind the scenes for a series like "25 Days of Community"? Drum roll, please. 🥁 These are actions not performance metrics. That's for a later date. 25 published blog posts means… -200 DMs (reach outs, answer questions, share previews, make edits) -50 post images (spec’d, created, reviewed, downloaded) -25 social posts (created and published) -25 taglines of death (did it to myself, I know) -50-75 draft reviews (IYKYK) -~500 moments of ensuring names, titles, and pronouns are correct -2 weird dreams (cause why not) -1 Google form (making life easier as I could) AND -1 imposter syndrome plagued community professional who had a MOMENT after an interview gone awry and said let's do this thing Well, the last one is more of a 'me' moment but you get it. This doesn't even account for what it'd take to get this done through a corporate setting. Yep. Will be talking more through that in a blog post. 😊 So big old shoutout to our content creators, y'all are the best. #community #communitymanager #cmgr
