I was watching the Starship launch today and reflected on the approach the Space-X team took toward the Rapid Unscheduled Disassembly of both vehicles, and I came up with three lessons: 1.) Nobody is complaining or blaming; they are taking on an incredible challenge and understand that things can and will go wrong. Zero risk is not an option if you want to push boundaries. 2.) They knew it was difficult and success was unlikely; they did it anyway!. You need to venture and learn. That's the only way progress is made. They are more worried about the profits in the future than the cost of the rocket. 3.) Everybody is thankful for the lessons; they will analyze data and try again with better success every time. Iteration makes perfection. In sum: To achieve the impossible, we must be humble enough to understand the lessons instead of deflecting them. We must have the courage and optimism to try things that make us insecure and have a feedback loop where we constantly learn.

It's been about 8 months (plus 15 days to be precise!) with Rocket and I must say it's been one of the most beautiful journeys in my professional life. When one says "This is a great organization to work for", one don't just mean the work or the premises or the infrastructure - it's an emotion in itself that encompasses the joy at work, the value one gets to add while doing one's work, the sense of importance one experiences, and most importantly, the trust that the management puts on each employee to make them feel the sense of belonging. When an organization lacks empathy and trust, the employees are reduced to mere "resources". I feel grateful to be able to say that the culture at Rocket has been one that is unique and rewarding, one that strives to ensure that people are happy at work! It is not in a lot of company that would hear people from the management flash the most friendly smile and ask "What do you think we could do to make Rocket even better?" It's heart warming. It humbles you and makes you feel proud at the same time. Where else do you would you find Humanity, Empathy, and Trust as an organization's core values? 7 years. 84 months. 365 weeks. 2,557 Days. 61,368 Hours. 3,682,080 minutes... you get the gist. That is how long I have been at #RocketCompanies, and while the amount of lessons I have learned and people I have to be grateful for are probably closer to the amount of minutes I've spent at Rocket, I spent some time this morning thinking about 7 things I've learned in 7 years: 1. Everything we have or don't have in life is the result of how we communicate. Study yourself, study others, be brave enough to be uncomfortable. Always fine tune communication. It will set you apart. 2. You are never the smartest person in the room. Take 5 minutes to learn something from everyone you meet. Guaranteed, you'll learn more than 3.68 million things. 3. Lean in, take notes, send a thank you to those who have invested in you and with you. Go the extra mile to show you care. The saying exists for a reason - "no one cares how much you know until they know how much you care". This is the foundation to every meaningful thing in life. 4. Surround yourself with not only the people who bring you light, but the ones you admire. We are who we surround ourselves with. 5. Our limits lie in our optimism. When we choose optimism, no problem is unsolvable. 6. The only constant in life is change. Find ways to be adaptable in any situation and your potential is limitless. 7. Challenge yourself everyday to be brave enough to speak up, but wise enough to know when to buckle up and hop on board. I will forever be thankful for the opportunities, growth, relationships, and education that Rocket has provided for so many years. Looking forward to many more!
