What can we do against #deepfakes? Yesterday we had an inspiring panel discussion at #TechDaysMunich with the following conclusion: 1. Try to recognize and mark deepfakes. There are fascinating approaches such as rPPG for video, which measures the subtle changes in skin tone in line with blood flow to validate real footage. But reliable #detection and obfuscation will remain a constant arms race. 2. Trace the origin of valid sources e.g. cryptographically. Self-sovereign #identities but also initiatives like C2PA can help to prove unaltered authenticity. However, it will still be a while before mass market adoption. 3. Prepare ourselves for successful #attacks. When we all have to expect to be tricked sooner or later, least privilege, zero trust and clean segregation of duties are more important than ever. In light of the recent CrowdStrike outage, it's never been more evident that cyber threats are a relentless concern for businesses of all sizes. Cyber Liability coverage isn't just an option; it's a necessity in today's digital landscape. Happy Tuesday everyone! This one may take a bit: I have been trying to make it through the Zscaler ThreatLabz 2024 Ransomware report. There is a lot of good information here but I haven't got to it all yet. So I will share the highlights first! Key Findings from the ThreatLabz researchers: - The largest ransomware payment of $75,000,000 USD. - Top targets were manufacturing, healthcare, and technology industries. - The United States is the top target that is ALMOST half of all attacks (49.95%). - 19 new ransomware families emerged. - Most active families: LockBit, BlackCat (a.k.a.
