Delivering for SEND children through Innovations in Assistive Technology!
We’re thrilled to share the success of our groundbreaking Assistive Technology (AT) project, which is revolutionising the lives of children and families with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).
Our AT project was nominated at the national Municipal Journal awards and was highly commended by the panel of judges.
The project uses cutting-edge technology (following a referral) to empower individuals with SEND. From immersive readers to voice control devices, epilepsy sensors, and Virtual Reality headsets, our solutions are tailored to enhance independence, remove barriers, and ease daily challenges.
Despite being in trial phase, the AT project has already made a significant impact. Families report increased confidence and improved ability to manage their child’s care needs. For instance, a lone parent and carer can now “sleep without fear” thanks to an epilepsy sensor blanket. This life-changing technology alerts the mother’s phone if her daughter experiences a seizure during sleep, allowing her to rest while ensuring her daughter’s safety.
Children and young people have been enabled to help shape and develop the new SEND School Provision through the use of Virtual Reality and AT approaches.
During the trial phase, over 100 children have benefited from AT, preventing costs of up to £300,000 for the council.
Our Kirklees Futures: The AT project aligns perfectly with the inclusion aim outlined in Our Kirklees Futures. Our vision is to equip learners of all ages with vital life skills, fostering a more accessible and inclusive community.

2moHi there! I've personally made 3 attempts to contact you via online messages and phone calls where I've tried to explain not only nuisance but domestic violence. My Neigbour jumped a fence onto my own fence and almost started a fight. They play music too loud often throughout the day until the sun is on the setting hour. They rev bikes in the garden for more than 3 hours sometimes, and I've heared the owner of number 19 abusing his dog on many occasions which I have proof on one of my online streams where you can hear this taking place in the background as I present my work. They've even shouted abusive over my fence. I've reported them to the police also. I sent you a message before bank holiday which would have made it the Friday and I have still not heared anythingbback from you at all. I sent thus message so I could have more proof of trying to contact you. I've now tried this option also. I will screen shot this message on your page. I hope to hear back from you soon. Please message me on my own LinkedIn space to continue this chat otherwise the proper channel. If you do choose to get back to me, I would like proof of this, so please, co tact me openly on my LinkedIn confirming we will progress with my case. Thank you.
