#FootballYouthDevelopment #SportForDevelopment Chapa Dimba Na Safaricom Is Back in The Youth Football Space. What is Chapa Dimba Na Safaricom? "Chapa Dimba na Safaricom is a national football tournament for male and female youth aged between 16-20 years. The aims of the tournament are to transform the lives of young people by giving them a platform to showcase their talent and an opportunity to earn from their passion." - Safaricom website. Just a thoughtful question, are tournaments / competition a way to develop a thriving and long-lasting football ecosystem for the youth? I'm thrilled and delighted that Chapa Dimba competition is back and will be beneficial to many young people and a wide range of stakeholders. On the flip side, big corporations organizing tournaments is a terrific concept, but I think they should also consider launching ventures that are more sustainable and can assist in re-engineering the entire football ecosystem or culture. I believe that the concept of holding tournaments as one of the primary methods of involving youngsters in sports has been overstretched. The tournament concept ought to be a part of the effort to achieve a more sustainable goal for many generations to come. Tournaments are short-term endeavours that, when you dig deeper, only help a select few, in contrast to creating a talent academy or institution, where they merely become a component of many other activities. There are excellent examples from around the globe that we can use as a precedent for how football may be used to help many young people create sustainable models of livelihood. In my perspective, Safaricom is a pacesetter, a constructive disruptor, and an advocate of creative techniques in various sectors. They are well known for their numerous noteworthy initiatives. As we've seen in other industries, I think they can assist us in creating a more stable football ecosystem. They may assist us by not only providing tournament sponsorship but also by motivating us to achieve a more sustainable foundation for youth in sports. Last but not least, we need everyone on board to not only accomplish the tournament's objective but also to foster a culture that will ensure we accomplish more and create a more stable football ecosystem. This was the first iteration of this tournament to be held in Namengo, with the first edition having been held in 2019 at the International University of East Africa playgrounds. The aim of this was to bring the community together for a common cause with the following objectives: a) To re-emphasize DIDA’s commitment to promoting and developing women’s football in Budaka and Uganda at large b) Engage the girls of Budaka in a footballing activity that they can enjoy, learn from and make new friends. c) To promote the football talents of the girl child in Budaka by allowing them to freely express themselves on the field of play. d) To establish a network of stakeholders in the ecosystem of women’s and girl’s football Budaka to create pathways for future collaborations. DIDA collaborated with the following partners. @DistilAssociatesLimited @VirtualSoccerSchools @HassanGraphix @CasaLodgeSafaris @The.Purp.Effect @BugwereFM This edition in terms of the statistics collected, was the #biggest ever, DIDA Women’s Day Cup. More teams participated, more supporters showed up and more goals were scored than in any other prior editions. This shows that interest in the tournament is growing, which can only bode positively for DIDA. Therefore, it is in the interest of DIDA to seek more partnerships to help make this tournament even bigger in the upcoming years. Passionate about enabling African Athletes, by unlocking new revenue streams that engage the fan base. Building a digital ecosystem that aggregates Africa’s top sporting talent, their fans and brands that support them.
As 2023 draws to a close, I reflect on and am grateful for all the milestones that we have achieved this year. Our purpose-led The Podium Pursuit Collective - ProTouch™️ Africa is a culmination of the last 30-years of my career, all wrapped into one exciting legacy! This is what I have learnt: - a true understanding that funding is the toughest challenge that African athletes face. - the power of collaboration and partnerships to find sustainable solutions (especially in Africa) is key. - how to unlock value by aggregating and activating an ecosystem and movement, with a common goal. - how technology and the blockchain are changing the world as we know it. - activating a global fan base is critical to the future funding models of athletes and teams. - the sponsorship models of the past are changing at an incredible pace. - a lot can be done with very little. - it seems impossible, until it’s done! - Nelson Mandela. Thank you to everyone who has played a part in our achievements this year: - our young team curated our launch database of more than 4 500 top performing athletes from 54 African countries, across 36 sports codes. - we released our prototype FanApp - our digital clubhouse - in beta along with our platform providers Blocksport - built out more than 3 000 digital athlete profiles with FanWord to provide athletes from Africa with a new way to build and monetize their brands, as well as share their stories. - commenced development of our digital collectibles, NFT and Tokenization strategy with Capital Block, Blocksport and FanEQT - commenced our capital raise in the US and EU to kickstart our Athlete Impact Fund in 2024. - initiated partnerships with a range of global brands, who we will be introducing to our fans very soon! - connected with over 1 500 new people on LinkedIn that have provided me with meaningful input, encouragement and advice - while cheerleading our project from the sidelines. - watched our young team grow in so many ways and thrive. - help to raise some last minute (and much needed) funds for one of South Africa’s national teams participating in a World Cup in the Middle East in January, using our platform. - celebrated and recognised Africa’s top athlete achievements 365 days of this year! I am really looking forward to 2024 and enabling further the full potential of athletes from Africa while unlocking value for fans, brands and investors. The best is yet to come! #podiumpursuit #Africanathletes

Celebration with purpose: We become more present when we have commemorated something significant and special in our lives. We know that such moments do not happen every day. Such an impact was felt during our recent celebration of the Pongal (harvesting) festival. In the spirit of unity and inclusivity, we find ourselves at a crossroads as we prepare to celebrate Pongal. Initially, due to scheduling constraints, we had contemplated hosting a celebration without our usual cultural events. However, a wise voice form our event hero Vipin A reminded us of the importance of preserving Innowell traditions for the benefit of all. It's true; within our vibrant community, we welcome newcomers who may not yet be familiar with the intricacies of our cherished celebrations. By showcasing the richness of our culture through events and competitions, we not only educate but also instill a sense of pride and belonging. In considering the impact of our actions, we realise that our choices today will shape the experiences of future generations. Just as we have inherited the beauty of our traditions, it is our duty to pass on this legacy to those who will walk in our footsteps. As we pass on the torch of tradition at Innowell, we equip the next generation with the tools to carry it forward. Let us embrace this responsibility with joy and dedication, knowing that in doing so, we create a legacy that will endure for years to come. #PongalCelebration #Tradition #Unity #Community #Innowell #CulturalHeritage #Legacy #NextGeneration #CelebrationWithPurpose

Innovating Today for Tomorrow's Athletes – The ISF at #IFFORUM 2023 The IFFORUM 2023 has been a hub of ideas that resonate with our core mission at the International School Sport Federation. Together with President Laurent PETRYNKA, we engaged with global sports leaders to forge a future that reflects our shared values of inclusivity, sustainability, and innovation. 'Unity', 'hope', and 'optimism' were not just themes; they are the tenets that define ISF's efforts to create a world where sport is a universal language of empowerment for youth. Our commitment to these principles was mirrored in the forum's focus on gender equity, environmental responsibility, and embracing the digital revolution. With the inspiring backdrop of The Olympic Museum, we discussed how these ideas can be brought to life in school sports programs worldwide. As we return, we're energized to implement strategies that will nurture young talent and promote fair play, respect, and global understanding. Join us on this transformative journey to shape a world where the next generation of athletes can thrive in an environment rich with opportunity and devoid of barriers. #UnityInSport #ISFSports #IFFORUM #Inclusivity #Sustainability #Equality #Unity #Innovation
