Closing the year with a Bang! 🎇 Alhamdulillah, Hijra finished 2023 with stronger productivity and unit economics (>2x), as we actively utilize our banking license. We also managed to close one of the few growth rounds in the SEA region in mid 2023 with an Indonesia-only fund (Intudo) leading, and participated by East Ventures, AC Ventures, Golden Gate Ventures, Quona Capital, FEBE Ventures, Capria Ventures, and other existing investors. 😎 It was not all sunshine and roses, as we made a lot of tough decisions during the year, which include rightsizing and refactoring our pay structures and tools. These happened on top of the tightening regulatory stance on the P2P lending and increasing concerns to the industry. Yet with the hardwork of the team and Allah's will, we managed to optimize 30-40% of our cost and came out stronger - poised for a more sustainable growth and profitability in 2024. All of these are important for us and Indonesia, as the nation's leading sharia fintech and neobank, Hijra business operation is expected to generate positive social impact to the society and country. Halal economy is no longer a merely alternative to the conventional one, but complementary in driving the overall economic growth. This has been also discussed across the presidential-vice presidential debates in recent weeks, and will remain key initiatives for the future administration of Indonesia. Over the past few years, Hijra has supported many SMEs for their working capital requirements, as well as mentored them for their business strategies. This initiative has been acknowledged by Kementerian Koperasi dan UKM Republik Indonesia (Ministry of Cooperative and Small Businesses), awarding Hijra group as the most active financiers and their partner in 2023. Super excited for 2024: focusing on our consumer banking initiatives! We still believe that 230 million Muslims in Indonesia are still underserved when it comes to their banking and finance activities. We will start with the mortgage (fast-growing sharia market) and AI initiatives (given our Chief Architect Ariya Hidayat is an expert in LLM field).
