2h2l1g - 06.21.2024 high. it's been a fantastic week, celebrating numerous talented friends who have landed or started their dream jobs! many people are discussing the possibility of a recession, but from what I observe, both the job and investment markets have stabilized at pre-Covid levels. I view this as a natural correction. so, even though it may seem like a decline year over year, the reality is that there is still growth compared to 2020. this perspective gives me a great deal of optimism for the future. low. juneteenth is a vital opportunity to educate people about the divisions that have held our country back amongst other things. more efforts are needed to remind people that these divisions have no place in our society today. however, polarization seems inevitable, especially in an election year. learning. I am considering returning to light coding using LLMs. In particular, Claude 3.5 seems to meet my starting needs. help. given that there's a 25% chance my dream job will come from an executive recruiter (with the other 75% coming from my network), I'm contemplating if there are specific executive recruiters I should be reaching out to. gratitude. camps are set to begin next week! june has been wonderful for the kids, but transitioning them back into more structured activities will likely be beneficial.

I couldn't have described last week any better. we made so many great memories on our trip to Italy with emilia. we were truly mesmerized by the country's history, beauty, amazing food and the people. the fact we we celebrated the promotion of our beloved Pallacanestro Trieste to serie A made everything even more special. low. nothing really learning. despite the jet lag, emilia and I managed to squeeze in a visit to the Colosseum. It's a phenomenal place to learn about engineering, architecture, and history. the fact that they once converted the arena into a giant pool to recreate a battleship scene is simply mind-blowing. help. what are the factors, aside from personal taste, to consider when investing in the food industry (e.g. restaurant) ? gratitude. we have many people to thank for their hospitality, but primarily, our gratitude is extended to the friends and family with whom we shared memorable moments (grazie Richard de Meo aka presidente). this also includes our "nonno" and "nonna" who traveled from greece to spend two days with us.

2h2l1g - 06.07.2024 high. heading to Italy for a few days because our beloved Pallacanestro Trieste made it to the finals (context: i am an investor). It will be amazing to be there and support the team's efforts for their promotion to Serie A. Forza Trieste! low. nico has croup again. we thought he might have outgrown it by now since he's almost 3, but hearing his cough as he struggles to breathe is both frightening and distressing. learning. don't judge others by their achievements, but by the journey they've taken to get there. this profound learning resonated with me because it aligns with my core belief. I believe that people's ability to realize their potential stems from their dedication to personal growth, rather than the talents or competencies they were born with. help. any recommendations for a day trip to Venice? what should we do and where should we eat? gratitude. a special thank you to Myrto for allowing me to go to Italy despite the many commitments at work and home. grazie mille!

2h2l1g - 05.31.2024 high. today is graduation day! even from pre-school, emotions are running high in our home. emilia’s pre-school has been the place where she made her first friends and developed social skills, largely due to the COVID and the isolation (e.g social distancing) of the first two years! it was at there where she has crafted a strong personality that we believe will thrive in kindergarten and future chapters of her life. we're always grateful for the memories we made at SLS and we hope nico will be equally blessed. low. not really a major issue, but living in an apartment that looks like Dexter's crime scene can be a bit inconvenient! I appreciate the crew for being so diligent with the covers, hopefully leaving no forensic evidence behind. lol! learning. the deeper one digs, the more issues one uncovers. in our pursuit to identify the root cause of our roofing issue, we unsurprisingly found problems that extended to the walls. naturally, these need to be addressed. the takeaway here is to be prepared for a cost increase of at least 10-50% to cover these unforeseen issues. much like how you would add a 10% contingency when purchasing new floor tiles, expect more work and budget for contingencies in larger projects, like a roof! help. I got a t-shirt for an 80s-themed birthday party, but I'm not sure what else to wear. any tips? gratitude. the victories of greek teams in the basketball EuroLeague and soccer's Conference Cup brought immense joy to our household. the soccer win, in particular given it’s uniqueness, evoked memories from 2004 when the Greek national team won its first-ever trophy in the Euros in Portugal.

2h2l1g - 05.24.2024 high. with time on my hands and the weather cooperating in san francisco, I'm excited about the home renovation project we started this week. after all, the heavy winter rains are intense, and we need to address the parts of our roof that caused many problems recently. the cost is substantial, but this investment is worth it! low. the world is in a strange place right now, and I believe there's a pervasive fatigue that somewhat desensitizes us to the ongoing suffering and cruelty. i do maintain faith in humanity to support selfless leaders rather than those who prioritize their own agendas. learning. it's not about how much information one consumes, but how much they absorb and translate into learning! this is a profound way of understanding many people's motivation and inclination. having a sponge-like mindset is the key! help. increasingly, friends are landing their dream jobs. I'm truly proud and happy for them, especially as they're joining organizations that suit them and where they can make a difference. if you're searching for a job, I encourage you to find companies that fit you. only then will your time spent searching for the right opportunity be worthwhile. gratitude. thank you to all the friends and family for remembering and sending love on emilia's and my name days, which are just one day apart. for greek orthodox, these are still a big deal; for me, another excuse to get a nice cake!

2h2l1g - 05.17.2024 high. what a week for genai! in different ways, both openai and google exceeded my expectations with their announcements/launches on mon and tue respectively. i particularly appreciate the focus on distributing those models directly to consumers and doing so at scale. meta also releasing their ai within the family of apps, makes the technology so easily and readily accessible that one thing is for certain… our lives will never be the same with those tools in our disposal and I couldn’t be more excited about the future opportunities this will unlock. for fear of being accused as naive, I would also say that the thoughtful approach each of those companies is taking in deploying those models makes me confident about the safeguards that are in place for the technology not to be abused/misused. while those safeguards can’t be 100% “bullet” proof, i trust the talented people in those organizations, some of whom i call friends, to figure it out! low. managed to get through the week as a solo parent… I only wish I kept my cool on wed night when nico didn’t want to go to bed at 9pm. let’s say there was a little tension in our relationship so much so that the next morning nico asked me if i was still angry at him :-( learning. i was at a hubspot event yesterday and it reminded me how valuable those forums are for startup founders to drive more visibility to their product/business. we were planning for something similar at f8 some time ago, e.g. a stage for startups in our programs to showcase their work… unfortunately covid meant we had to cancel f8 that year, but i would love to see some of that coming back at connect! help. any ideas for suitable pre-K graduation gifts? most of the suggestions I've found online cater to high school and college graduates, but there seems to be a shortage for pre-K! gratitude. I'm extremely grateful to the “system” for ensuring that good friends, who are also amazing professionals, are landing their dream jobs. this week was no exception, and I hope this pattern continues!

2h2l1g - 05.10.2024 high. the weather in San Francisco has been phenomenal! taking long walks with dear friends and soaking up the sun has truly been a blessing. seeing how others also embrace this weather makes me believe that a sunny day uplifts everyone's mood! low. it wasn't exactly a low point, but saying goodbye to our family was emotional for everyone. I view these as opportunities to create lasting memories for both adults and children. hopefully, these memories will inspire a stronger desire to spend more time together in the future. learning. In the end, it's not just the quality, but the attachment to something that truly matters. with the Warriors out of the NBA playoffs, and a few lazy mornings, I had the chance to watch the euroleague playoffs where two greek teams were competing. the quality of the games could be debated; for reference, the final score was lower than the first half of the Mavs vs OKC game yesterday. however, the passion and excitement of the game, with two greek teams competing, sparked childhood memories of watching these teams and my own (aris bc) compete in european competitions with great intensity! those same feelings of passion resurfaced along with the memories. help. with mother's day looming, I'm sure there are others like me who are falling behind on special arrangements. we should strive to do better next year. yet, for now, recognizing how much we value the mothers in our lives should extend beyond a simple bouquet of flowers. regardless, if you are aware of a nice flower shop that still delivers on sunday, please hit me up 🙂 gratitude. last sunday was greek orthodox Easter. even though I don't practice, I'm always intrigued by celebrations associated with specific foods, especially if I enjoy those foods. This Easter was no exception, and the lamb chops at Kokkari did the job!!

2h2l1g - 05.03.2024 high. "Life at the Hive", a play performed by the pre-K class this week, was a very proud and emotional moment! It was truly amazing my Emilia confidently reciting her lines in front of an audience that included her parents, her cousin and finally her little brother. contrary to his daddy's fear of being a distraction, was captivated by the bees, their fight to protect the queen, and the hungry bear who couldn't resist going after the honey. on a separate note, i really welcome anthropic move to release an iOS app! it was the missing piece of the puzzle! low. managing the disappointment when some conversations do not progress can be challenging. in reality, I believe I have made progress in dealing with such situations and feel better prepared. however, the excitement derived from other ongoing conversations helps balance things out. learning. thanks, everyone, for the advice on activities to do with a 10-year-old. as I've realized, at this age, you just want to do your favorite things with your friends and loved ones! whether it is cycling to the golden gate bridge, playing hoops at moscone recreation center, or just having fun at the house of air on the trampolines, there are plenty of activites a pre-teen can enjoy! help. if anyone has figured out how to stop their kids from growing up, please do share! gratitude. respect and gratitude go to the teams that are still dedicated to providing a great candidate experience! this shows a level of care for prospective team members that goes a long way!

I had the chance to attend the Stripe Session conference this week, and a few things truly impressed me. first and foremost, Stripe now boasts a diverse ecosystem of clients, partners, and developers, with an estimated 5,000 people in attendance. secondly, their product roadmap is impressive, encompassing everything from payment management to the complete stack before and after a payment, including billing and expenses. finally, their commitment to interoperability is a strategic investment that I believe will pay off in the future. the speakers, both from the Stripe team and their guests, were excellent. even the on-stage jokes added a nice touch. kudos to the Stripe team for a wonderful experience, and thank you for the invitation. low. the market's response to meta's earnings was disappointing, though somewhat expected. I have observed this pattern before. Often, the markets lag in appreciating the upfront investments that zuck promotes to gain a first-mover advantage. learning. last sunday, I experienced the joy of running with emilia! ever since emilia and nico were born, I've viewed things from a slightly different perspective, wondering whether they'd love doing these activities with me, or if they were too young to try. these activities ranged from surfing and scuba diving, to even running. the Katherine Delmar Burke School (Burke's) Dash is an annual event held near the bridge in crissy fields, it's an excellent place for a run. emilia and I had the opportunity to participate together last Sunday. We ran, walked, and I even gave her piggyback rides. eventually, we finished the 2-mile run in under 30 minutes! there was no medal at the end, which disappointed emilia a bit, but we were both thrilled to have completed the run together, holding hands all the way. to be honest, I absolutely loved it. I hope that she will remember doing this with her daddy in the years to come. help. we have family visiting from Greece today! If anyone knows of any fun activities in the Bay Area for pre-teens, please let me know. we have already planned visits to the academy of science and the zoo. gratitude. despite a hectic schedule, I managed to work out daily and even included a few acupuncture and massage sessions. a week focused on wellbeing is always time well spent.
