Understanding and managing mental health in the workplace is important as individuals but even more important when being part of a team or line managing individuals. Yesterday I jumped on a City, University of London course for just that!
Managers should not be expected to be health experts, but they should be able to recognise the value of health and wellbeing at work. During this session we discussed common 'warning signs', when and how to approach conversations and most importantly direct employees to appropriate sources of help.
One continuous development area and interest of mine is supporting those who struggle with their own mental health, knowing from experience how important a listening ear and a supporting network around you can massively impact you, it's important to me that I provide that for those working in my team.
Daily reminder: You never know what someone is going through. A few nice words can help a person a lot more then you think.

Thanks for sharing this insight. It's encouraging to see how top CEOs are helping to break down barriers around mental health by openly discussing their own experiences and care practices.
