Employers have more legal risk on the horizon. The DOL move here will make misclassifying workers even more hazardous. No business should make a decision on exemptions without fully analyzing and understanding whether an employee's position has both the required primary duties and the minimum (and soon to be much higher!) salary basis. Haven't seen much online about this new ruling considering how many businesses and employees it's going to affect.... If you have Salaried Exempt employees under the new threshold, your labor costs will drastically increase 8 months from now having to pay overtime. Are you thinking ahead? Do you need an outsourcing strategy to offset those new costs?
