8 months ago, I left my high-paying W2 job to start my own company. Here's 7 reasons why you should NOT do the same thing: 1. Early mornings, long days, and late nights 🥱 2. Weekends and holidays? Yeah, those aren't days off... 3. Health insurance? Yep, that's on you now, and it ain't cheap. 4. Irregular income is kinda a thing now but hey... good luck w/ rent! 5. Ever had a boss you couldn't escape from? He's with you now 24/7. 6. You'll question whether you should pay the extra $1.90 for guac @ Chipotle. 7. The emotional rollercoaster – one second you're living your best life, the next you're questioning your existence. Just because entrepreneurs are posting selfies on LinkedIn showing off how amazing their life is, there's a whole other side to it. It ain't for everyone. But if you have a mission you're willing to give your life for, there's nothing that makes you feel more alive. #sales #entrepreneurship #leadership
Your post highlights the often overlooked challenges of entrepreneurship. Early mornings, long hours, and financial instability are real hurdles. Health insurance and unpredictable income can be daunting. The emotional rollercoaster is not for the faint-hearted. However, as you said, if you have a mission you’re truly passionate about, it can make all the sacrifices worthwhile. Entrepreneurship is not for everyone, but for those who are committed, it brings a unique sense of fulfillment and purpose. Thanks for keeping it real! 🙏
Been there! Bootstrapped for 8 years before being acquired by the good people at Klue . IMO the pain of never having tried is far greater than the emotional roller coaster of trying. Conviction, passion, and energy are the key ingredients. You got this!
"The emotional rollercoaster – one second you're living your best life, the next you're questioning your existence. " So relatable 💯
Yeah, listen to this guy. He knows what he's talking about. The entrepreneur/solopreneur life isn't for everyone.
It’s okay to learn valuable lessons and go back to high paying W2 too!! 🇺🇸
But is that a Marriott Home + Villa property in Hawaii that you're working from? That's pretty dope...
Currently living this life. There are so many ups and downs. A different kind of stress than working for somebody. Typically a person starts a business because they excel at something... But then all of a sudden you need to excel at business management, marketing, sales, accounting, etc. It's a lot. I love it, but, damn, so much to do ALL of the time. 🙃
Welcome to the game where the only goal is to not give up!
But you get to work in a muscle tee
Seriously - it isn't for everyone. More people need to see this. Many solo-prenuer influencers on social media glamorize it, but it can be incredibly stressful and much worse than a stable, cushy corporate job. I love that you called out health insurance too! Health insurance, 401k, taxes - all of this boring stuff is much more annoying to deal with when you're solo.
