A few weeks ago, we experienced an extraordinary event that will mark a before and after. For the first time, we had the opportunity to spend a day and a half with 10 architects and interior designers from prestigious European firms. This unforgettable gathering in the vibrant city of Barcelona was the perfect blend of cultural and leisure activities, creating an ideal setting for enriching conversations and an exclusive, close-up presentation of our aluminium chains. The experience exceeded all our expectations, and we are already eager to repeat it. We couldn't be more excited about what's to come!

THALLO Boutique Hotel Cluster: A Fluid Architectural Masterpiece Nestled in the Mountains of Mayang River • BUZZ/Büro Ziyu Zhuang's THALLO Boutique Hotel Cluster in the Mayang River area stands as a testament to their continuous exploration of the concept of "mountain" within Eastern imagery, viewing mountains as fluid entities like clouds or air. • The hotel cluster diverges from previous low-density projects by closely integrating the architecture with the mountain, forming a vertical, multi-layered structure that meanders with the mountain's contours, creating a fluid form that links the interior business types and produces a shifting scenery effect. • To minimize the impact on the natural landscape, experiential spaces are elevated, fostering a sense of floatation and crafting a unique experience, while the eave design, soft like ribbons, lessens the sense of bulk, linking buildings on either side to enhance landscape and commercial nodes. • The interior space continuity and stratification coexist, with terrain curves defining functional areas and circulation, while the undulating roof creates rich visual and tactile experiences, and observation decks and inverted curves offer diverse views and windows, providing a new "step-by-step changing scenery" experience. The Dame: A Voyage through Time and Nature Nestled in the essence of biophilic design, "The Dame" stands as a pioneering yacht concept that marries the ancient allure of the sea with contemporary architectural brilliance. Inspired by the graceful curves of seashells and the verdant hues of Greek olive trees, this yacht design is a tribute to Greece’s rich maritime heritage, reminiscent of the voyages described in Homer's epic tales. The design of "The Dame" features an organic form, with spiraling structures that mimic the natural geometry of seashells, creating a seamless flow between the interior and exterior environments. This layout is not only aesthetically pleasing but also enhances the onboard experience by maximizing natural light and offering panoramic views of the sea, promoting a deep connection with the marine surroundings. Central to the yacht’s design is the integration of olive trees, symbols of peace and vitality in Greek culture, which are strategically placed to enhance the air quality and provide natural shade. These elements of greenery are essential to the biophilic design, fostering a living environment that revitalizes and inspires its inhabitants. "The Dame" represents a blend of luxury and sustainability, equipped with cutting-edge technologies for energy efficiency and minimal environmental impact. It is designed for those who cherish the art of sailing and have a profound respect for nature, offering an unparalleled experience that is both luxurious and in harmony with the environment. By embodying the spirit of ancient Greek seafaring within a modern architectural framework, "The Dame" sets a new standard for yacht design, promising a journey that is as spectacular as the destinations it will reach. #YachtDesign #BiophilicDesign #SustainableArchitecture #DebbieFlevotomouArchitects #LuxuryYachts #MaritimeHeritage #GreekDesign #InnovativeArchitecture

Let's play a game of 'Where am I?' There is a wide entrance clad in dark stained wood strips with a bright green leather sofa waiting area. There is clear floor to ceiling signage made from illuminated light strips. The is crisp, chunky engineered touch points in Matt aluminium at each place of interaction. There is plenty of space and good lighting, which changes zonally as you walk through the segmented free flowing areas. Each point of use is clear in its operation through signage, locations and method of interaction. Where am I? I'm in the toilets at Girona Airport in Spain. I'm always astonished at the utter brilliance and scale of the European airport toilets in comparison to what I have engaged with in the UK. The UK is a nation famed for it's architecture and design and yet we welcome visitors with the worst available attempts at spaces for basic personal functions. And then when they leave the country they get to do it again. What an utter shambles of a lasting impression. Manchester airport is currently having a new terminal wing built, and I don't expect big things the bar has been set so low. But how do we change this? How do we engage the architects and interior designers and finance controllers to actually deliver spaces that provide valuable human function space that is welcoming and comfortable. There is so much room for innovation in the way we deal with treating people better around their daily human needs. The worst toilets I've had to use were in Bristol Temple Meads Train Station in 2008 and recently in Holyhead train/ferry terminal and Barcelona bus station. Girona Airport, Gdansk Airport, Lanzarote Airport, all amazing and examples of what should be aimed for. #architecture #interiordesign #bathroom #toilets #fail #airport #europe #uk
