It is said that we each make an average of 35,000 decisions a day. We make most of them automatically without even realizing it. Only a few of these decisions are significant, so how well are we trained to recognize the ones that matter most? As designers, we ask ourselves this question every day. We believe that embracing uncertainty is a crucial part of the design process. In fact, we think it’s at the heart of design, and we’re convinced that doubt is the key to innovation. Because the opposite of design isn’t chaos, it’s fatalism. That’s why we’ve dedicated a special event to this theme: “Embracing Uncertainty: How Design Sparks Innovation,” which we will hosted at the ADI Design Museum. Claudio Valdetara from Rhea Vendors Group, Stefano Spillere from Telwin SpA, Fabio Paleari from Quanta System Spa, Cosimo Laserra from Mars and Mario Tommasi from Uteco will be presenting their experiences on this matter. Our goal is to explore the value of uncertainty through a showcase of standout projects and creating a diverse narrative that includes both Tangity team members and our clients. Join us at the upcoming event on June 5th at 16.30 and get ready to discover how doubt can fuel design innovation! Germany based industrial designer and entrepreneur with 12+ years experience designing products that impact markets. | Trained BLeader | Daily posts about Industrial Design insights
"How do you keep up as an industrial designer?" 🔍 I'm often asked this question. We designers thrive on innovation and creativity. It's essential to stay informed and inspired. For me, staying current involves regularly reading top industry blogs like FastCoDesign, Dezeen, and Core77. These platforms offer insights into global design trends and creative thinking. I also attend key trade fairs like Salone del Mobile in Milan, Dutch Design Week, and CES in Las Vegas. These events are perfect for witnessing innovations and networking with peers. It’s about engaging with the broader design community and continuously learning. P.S. What is your favorite design blog or event? — Like this? I’m Simon T. Gorski, an industrial designer and entrepreneur with 12+ years of experience designing products that impact markets. Follow me for daily insights about industrial design. #IndustrialDesign #Innovation #DesignTrends

Come and see us in Milan! We are very happy to announce that we will be showing our project “Everything Exists / Future narratives & artifacts of tomorrow” at Milan Design Week 2024. Together with the fabulous gravity GmbH The Foresight Academy we have developed a unique project that demonstrates the potential of translating foresight knowledge into actionable products and day-to-day near future objects. It also gives a starting point for rethinking product development and business rationale. To conceive new products, we must anticipate the contours of the future. Our aesthetic sensibilities evolve to guide our preferences, behaviors, and practice. What stands the test of time? What seamlessly adapts to our changing needs? Which things do we leave behind? In this pivotal epoch when our actions have planet-sized consequences, the convergence of foresight and design wields transformative potential, enabling more judicious choices by those who shape the world, based on compelling, future-informed arguments. Milan Design Week 2024, April 15–21. ALCOVA, Villa Bagatti Valsecchi, Room V8 Via Vittorio Emanuele II, 48, Varedo (IT) www.futurenarratives.net

Join us ONLINE January 24 for 'DesignTO Talks: Dematerialized' to hear Austin Houldsworth talk about Redefinition Design as a specific method within Speculative Design. This method focuses on the underlying axioms of a given socio-technological system, and creates a framework to step outside the slow and seemingly uncontrollable evolutionary development of large-scale systems, to redefine and design socio-technological systems from altered fundamentals. To exemplify this approach, Austin will share a recent counterfactual project that radically redefines personal telecommunication devices to resonate with alternative notions of identity. January 24 & 25 | 6 PM EST THIS EVENT IS ONLINE To register or visit: https://buff.ly/40NH7nV Speakers include Lynne Heller, Austin Houldsworth, Alex Yueyan Li, Neo-Futuristic Walks, Joel Ong, Justin Park, Skawennati, and Ruby Thelot. The free symposium runs online over two days: Tuesday, January 24 and Wednesday, January 25, 2024, from 6-8pm EST each day. 'DesignTO Talks: Dematerialized' is organized by DesignTO, and supported by the Ontario Cultural Attractions Fund, Government of Ontario and EQ Bank, with media partner AZURE Magazine. The KURZ Trends Team investigates tendencies from a wide range of future fields and society. We cluster and use this knowledge as a brief for our surface designs we want to share and discuss with you. Every year, we set out to find what’s moving the world? What forms of expression do creatives find in response? We explore answers, exciting, inspiring, sometimes confusing, and lately driven at a racing pace by digitalization and globalization. We then filter out the ones that start at the point where ideas turn into innovative surfaces, effects, colors and products. Together with you we want to review and discuss observations, analyze and view what´s next in surfaces, colors, and effects. We will talk about and present our trend research outcomes and offer you insights into our designs. You will certainly find inspiration for your next designs!
