Simulation Friday: Hydrodynamic Exploration This week, during a meeting, a question arose about incorporating fluid and gas properties into our simulations. Although hydrodynamic studies haven't been necessary for our missions thus far, the query piqued my interest about what our toolset could achieve in this domain. Our primary software for mechatronic and particle simulations lacks a hydrodynamics plugin. However, the AGX for Unity package has these functions enabled. This inspired me to devise a relevant lab case using this capability. Given my passion for sailing, I designed a boat equipped with a downwind sail made of cloth. The boat features a metal keel, and a wooden hull and rudder. I can control the rudder and sail sheeting, as well as the global wind properties, including direction and force in real time scale. The simulation performed admirably, particularly considering the operational dynamics of an old ship like this. The Log parameter is the speed in knots. It's not moving fast, but sail ships are slow and sturdy. #LKAB #Algoryx #Simulation
